I'm looking to join a gym in my area. Do guys still switch into or wear jockstraps while they are working out?? I don't want to be the only guy in the locker room who changes into a jockstrap.

It's been a while since I've seen a jockstrap in a non-school-affiliated locker room. Even in college I rarely saw guys wearing them. Most of what I've noticed are guys wearing compression shorts/briefs (my personal choice) like something from Under Armour or Adidas. I've seen plenty just wear regular underwear, too.

Part of me wonders if its a regional thing. Do guys in certain parts of the country lean towards jockstraps? I've convinced its the same for open showers versus private shower stalls in a locker room. Plenty of those threads here.

I wear them.

But I only see them fairly occasionally. But not never.

I'm British though - just outside London. I think they'd be slightly more common in the US than UK but I think they are going out of fashion everywhere now...

I think it's because people think it's all about the back view. But it's not: it really is a functional garment... It's about good support and stopping some kinds of groin injury. The fact that the front view is quite masculine is just a bonus really ... People shouldn't really be spending too much time looking?

I wear them. I don't care- I 'm not 13 years old anymore. lol.

Here's a brand I've never seen discussed. McKillop of Canada.

Great, round-shaped pouches, especially classic jock 1.0. The classic jock 2.0 is a more aggressive profile.

I always wear a jock to the gym. I like the support and compression shorts are uncomfortable to me. Who cares what others are wearing. If you want/need the support of a jock you should wear one. Besides if others see you wearin one in the locker room they may be more willing to wear one too.

Do what you want to do, not what everyone else is doing.
I still wear a jockstrap to the gym. Only see a few other guys in the locker room wearing them. Of course not everyone changes in the locker room, so I can't say for sure how many guys are jocked at my gym.

Never in the last 26 years in Canada have I seen a guy wear one in the many gyms I have belonged to. I freeball because my shorts have built in underwear. I find it much more comfortable than wearing underwear underneath.

I wear mine sometimes, I once saw a guy changing in the locker room and he had on one but he put on a compression short over it. Every man is different.

i wear one. compression shorts get too hot and moist. jock + loose workout shorts works best for me - wear mine for running too.
