Curious stupid qUestions:
I never understood why jock straps were designed not to cover the ass and only had straps. Is there a reason?
Anyone know historically when men started to wear underpants?
That question has been posed a lot. One reason might be it's less material and hence cheaper to make. One might be that it's one less layer of cloth to keep your ass from sweating. Perhaps the concept was that there was lesson constraint if you're running of moving fast if you have only a leg strap as opposed to butt-covering cloth that might tug. I've read that "jockey straps" were designed in, what, the early 1900's for bike riders and not used by, say, runners in their early years. If true, maybe they thought that the leg work involved in biking needed that extra bit of freedom.
You can look this up on the internet but I don't know that there's a definitive answer.
Sadly, "fashion" jocks and the gay market have kind of taken over the jockstrap world, so often wearing one is seen as gay because it gives "easy access" to an asshole. You know... kinda like the White House.
