I can assure you that no one has ever been banned on here because of their political beliefs. In fact, I have no knowledge that YoungNHung19 even was banned, buf it he was, I'm certain it was based on sexist attacks on other members of the forum like this one in which he urged Madame Zora to "float [away on] those big knockers of yours". Or perhaps it was this one where he baselessly accused aloofman of "libel and slanderous activity".

YoungNHung19's brief membership on the board was far more characterized by his personal attacks on other members of the board (including Mark and me) than by his uninformed political beliefs.

Mindseye, you took the words out of my mouth.

No one gets banned for their opinions, political or otherwise. In the entire history of this site, there have been no more than 5 members who were banned. In every case, the member was banned for repeatedly harassing members or seriously disrupting the discussions.

By the way, mindseye, your new look is great! :)

I honestly NEVER saw a time were kerry "flip flopped". Every issue he had a stance on. But because the cheny and friends said he did, he did.

Gay marriage? Let the states decide. a MUCH smarter way of doing it than constitutionally banning it. Isnt the constitution suppose to give rights?

The war in iraq? he wanted to continue, but knew bush was doing a very bad job at it.

and he is. Prison scandal? no wmds? saying they found some but lost them? The soldiers mud wrestling? the poorly trained iraqi officers that fled when conflicts arose?

And then you go into the whole way the war is ran.

I know 103014038% there are NO iraqi insurgents willing to bomb other iraqis. There have been suicide bombings in buildings that obviously have NO strategic reason of destruction besides just killing people. a very small percentage of humans on this planet would do that, and with how often it happens in iraq, you would think all the evil people in the world went there to fight.

Why did kerry lose? because he's ugly. One of the smartest people ive ever known voted for bush. When i asked why, she gave some reasons. They didn't make any sense at all. When i proved every reason she had wrong, she said "I don't trust kerry. Just look at him." Its like Bush's stupidity is an epidemic.

And they don't even seem to try to hide things in the media (which is EXTREMELY conservative. 51% of US media is owned by one rich man. a bush supporter.)

Bush will say something like "Yassir Arafat has to step down." A week later, dead.

Bush says "Syria had better stop supporting terrorists in lebanon." A week later, bang, bomb killing ex prime minister of lebanon, which was then blamed on syria.

Remember lebanon guys? The place that hasn't had conflict since israeli soldiers left it in 1999? ya...nice place...

The blood on the Bush dynasty's hands will never wash away. The blood will boil upon their very flesh, and crawl up their arms onto their bodies and burn away at their very souls.

Excuse my long post...when you've taken pain medicine...you don't know when ot shut up.

I tried to avoid this one b/c I hate political debates, but I just have to add that there ARE quite a few articles out there on Kerry flip-flops:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2088214/

http://www.nationalreview.com/kerry/waffles.asp (some of them in this one are nitpicky and stupid like the Presidential Experience one. I myself round up to the next year when 5-6 months have gone by. But some catch him in some out-right flipflopping)

http://washingtontimes.com/national/200406...15616-3546r.htm

And I know Bush did some flip-flopping himself too.

I didn't vote for Bush b/c of his looks or against Kerry's because of his. It takes more than looks to run a country and I'm smart enough to know that. I voted for Bush b/c I agreed with his stance on more of the issues than I did Kerry's. http://www.whynotvote.com/ I didn't base my choice solely on that site....I watched the news when I could (which is hard when your tv is stuck on the Disney Channel or Noggin most of the time).

I also wasn't keen on throwing Bush out when he was halfway through what he started with the war. My fingers are crossed that he does the right thing and all ends well. Coming from a former military background (my husband) we know and have a lot of friends that are dealing with it personally.

How gullible human beings are.

Don't get me wrong, kerry is a douchebag. But at least he's not a spawn of hell sent to destroy the world like Bush has been doing so perfectly.

I start reading some of those sites, but the amount of times his quotes were taken out of context, and/or he is talking about 2 completely different situations really made my head almost explode.

I know bush had a few flip flops. by i few i mean everything he says. his flip is saying something, his flop is doing something else.

something like "our tax cuts will help the poor!" and then...no...they didnt.

"Sadam is connected to al queda and had nukes! ahhh! be scared and only i can save you!" when really....nope. Saddam had neither, and bush hasnt been doing a good job of saving us.

How about before the first time he was elected, he said he would stop the armenian genecide...and then he didnt.

How about him saying God speaks through him...yeah...God isn't a racist redneck out for oil...

How about him saying "There aught to be limits on freedom.", and then claim he's "spreading" freedom to the arab nations. indeed. bombs are much better at spreading things around than anything else!

These things are just off the top of my head. I'm not even gonna bother looking for sites for 2 main reasons. All the information i got comes from CNN that i watch at work when im not doing anything, which is conservatively owned, and they counterdict themselves all the time.

Second reason is im too lazy.

Were I Kerry, I would've come up with the response "Bush never flipped" every time someone accused me of flip-flopping.

And every time Bush said God himself told him to do something, I thought to myself "Yanno, if I heard voices in my head, I'd go see a psychiatrist."

Gee, how insightful. And this is why I don't like to get into political debates.

Don't get me wrong, kerry is a douchebag. But at least he's not a spawn of hell sent to destroy the world like Bush has been doing so perfectly.

The purpose of this thread was to ask why people voted against Kerry, not why you think Bush is the spawn of hell.

I start reading some of those sites, but the amount of times his quotes were taken out of context, and/or he is talking about 2 completely different situations really made my head almost explode.

You must not have read closely enough. The middle one even cites their sources and I fail to see where most of those are out of context or about different situations.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not so in love with Bush that I think he's an angel either. I think most (if not all) major politicians are corrupt.

Anyway, I'm done.

I didn't mean for personal attack, I apologize.

Maybe we can all try to look on the bright side....when, in recent history have so many people been so interested and so passionate about politics? I just sincerely hope it motivates the citizens of this country to become better read, educated and insightful regarding the American political arena and global politics in general. May be asking too much, but I appreciate the passion, from both sides.

Don't forget, 49% of the country really did vote for him; 51% voted for bush, which is still at the very least, questionable.
I thought that it was more like 47% Kerry and 52% Bush...but anyway, I also happen to think that Bush was the WRONG guy to be leading the country. Not that I agree with all or even most of what Kerry (or even Badnarik, whom I voted for) stood for...

No, it was 51% for Bush. Of course, then you've also got counties with more votes for Bush than actual voters or negative votes for Kerry.

I still can't figure out the dimentia for voters in the Great Plains. And I grew up in South Dakota. I mean, what kind of person votes so against his self-interest just because of queers?

Since they're so suicidal, I've already got an idea for a 2008 ad: "Cheney '08: It's down the highway, not across the street."

Just for the record (since I like numbers), it was:

Bush 51%
Kerry 48%
Others 1%

(I also like to think of it as "Forty-nine percent of the electorate did not support Bush.")

I think I'm gonna sit this discussion out...around where I am people base how much they like or respect you depending on your political stance, even teachers though it is illegal. I know people will say "Oh I don't care what your political stance is, it doesn't matter, well sometimes it does. So while I may hint at my political standings at some times, I'm not gonna risk people being biased and just shut my self up :) TAG, I know exactly how you feel not wanting to be in political discussions, because certain teachers that I've discussed politics with (with them starting the conversationg of course >.>) and have found about 1:2 of them mark me down for stupid things and make sure I get a grade no higher than a B+ in their class. It pisses me off.

Just like he said Saddam had WMDs.
