ma'am...i fail to see where his words meet your definition of treason .... would you highlight the portion where he attempted to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government? perhaps i am missing something?

In an exclusive interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press," Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., said he does not believe Donald Trump is a "legitimate president," citing Russian interference in last year's election.

Asked whether he would try to forge a relationship with the president-elect, Lewis said that he believes in forgiveness, but added, "it's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president."

When pressed to explain why, he cited allegations of Russian hacks during the campaign that led to the release of internal documents from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign co-chairman, John Podesta.

"I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton," Lewis told NBC News.

The left's sad attempts to blame it on the Russians, fake news, and racism has gone beyond tiresome.

As to this irrelevant Lewis fellow ... his refusal to recognize the elected president, voted in by the people, is treasonous in nature. Many a overthrows of government have begun with the sentiment he's expressed.

I believe a speedy arrest, trial, and execution by firing squad on the White House lawn is in order.

Does that apply to Trump's refusal to recognize Obama as the legitimate president?

See above.

They haven't changed: remember the secession movement during the O presidency?
'As the dust settles in the wake of President Obama's decisive reelection last Tuesday, the White House petition website has been flooded by a series of secession requests, with malcontents from New Jersey to North Dakota submitting petitions to allow their states to withdraw from the union.

Most of the petitions submitted thus far have come from solidly conservative states, including most of the Deep South and reliably separatist Texas. But a handful come from the heart of blue America - relatively progressive enclaves like Oregon and New York.

All told, petitions have been filed on behalf of 20 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.'

We can count on the Deep South(always)...

Researchers have found strong evidence that racism helps the GOP win

The fact is no country has tried on a scale the US has to unite so many disparate "tribes" under one umbrella. It may be humanity just isn't there yet. The concept of "nationhood" is a fairly recent structure in our evolution. It may be beyond our reach.

Trump wasn't an elected official when he made those (legitimate) claims. He was instead a private citizen who unlike Lewis hadn't taken a government oath.

Lewis should kiss Trump's ring and beg for forgiveness.

Mr Lewis took an oath to uphold the constitution, not to worship Mr. Trump.

Mr Lewis was beaten and almost died of his wounds for peacefully protesting for civil rights. He did not resist or fight back. The man is still a hero. You don't get over that. You honor that. Did Mandela stop being a hero when some years after he was released from Prison?

1. a.) Trump wasn't an elected official when he made those b.) (legitimate) claims.
That doesn't exclude the total lack of civility with which he displayed during his campaign and continues to do--
with no dignity expected from a president-elected. If Trump was an asshole for the sixteen months before being inaugurated, that's
evidence of who and what he was and continues to be. If he wanted people to give him a chance, he should have treated his opponents better.
Lewis can state his opinions as a private citizen having taken an oath of office.
He was insulting, stupid, mean, and boorish.
b.) (legitimate) that's just your opinions, and believe me, there are many who don't share it.
2.) a.) Lewis should kiss Trump's ring. Don't look now, but nobody kisses a US president's ring.
Kissing a ring is a gesture accorded to royalty or religious hierarchy..
Trump is not a king, he's a petty, loudmouthed, vindictive vulgarian.
b.) and beg for forgiveness.
Sez you, and given your invective, insult, and right-wing harangues, you have no right to direct anyone to ask, let alone beg, anyone's forgiveness.

A) There was nothing legitimate about Trump's claims.
B) I can't find a definition of treason that distinguishes between elected officials and private citizens.

'Treason' was the first handful of dung she could think to pick up and throw: she doesn't care what words mean.

Has anyone asked the US intelligence organisations how the Russians were able to orchestrate this "online" attack? Seems to me that something like this would need to be in the planning stages for some time. Knowing the long held mistrust between the two governments over a very long time. Also Russia's suspected hacking and involvement of countries in it's immediate region.

The US people and it's Government are asked to trust their intelligence organisations to prevent something like this from happening.

So when, after the fact investigations take place, information is released. Is there any information when US intelligence organisations first became aware of tampering?

Yes, I become suspicious when I'm asked to believe that all powerful intelligence organisations where not in some way aware, of what is apparently a large number of people, groups and a country (which they have always watched covertly), has the wool pulled over their eyes when the largest act of US democracy, it's election is tampered with.

Surely at some point, months or years in advance there would have been some sort of intelligence from somewhere indicating these planned "cyber terrorist" attacks to the very heart and soul of US democracy.

You don't suppose it could all be a clandestine plan by secret organisations to use it as another excuse to further take away civil liberties and freedoms do you???? No..... that would never be possible:rolleyes:

And to have a President in charge who on the surface says he does not believe them, yet we know he is seeking ways around civil law....Surely I am to suspicious to think they want the same thingo_O

Yup, the day is coming when we turn on our computer, before we are able to access the internet, we will need to sign in to a database linked to intelligence organisations:oops:

Unfortunately, Trump uses that pervasive suspicion to his advantage. When he can brand any report against him, no matter how well substantiated, as "fake news" and get away with it, what hope remains for democracy?

Yup, and the secret intel organisations most feared enemy is freedom of information. They have been around a lot longer than Donald. I bet I know which one will win :) They both talk from opposite sides, yet want the same goal.

I think they will probably end up working together for their cause. Otherwise Don will be more stupid than we are led to believe. Would not be the first time he's done shonky deals.

I don't understand why serious questions have not been asked of these organisations. Surely they knew information well in advance.

He did more than one thing fifty years ago, and what he did will insure he's remembered long after you're dead. He won't be forgotten--you will.

The people I love will remember me. That's all that counts in my life.

I didn't say Lewis wasn't a hero. Her was. He just uses the racist card like most Democraps do when it gives them the look of being so rightest. And regardless of the MSM his area of Atlanta is still a pig pen. Go check it out if you don't believe me.
I've been there.

Once upon a time, not so long ago one candidate for the president of the United States claimed the election process was rigged. And that candidate said it many, many times. So wasn't Mr Lewis just agreeing with the candidate that believes the election was rigged and therefore not legitimate?

Doesn't one of the amendments in your constitution guarantee the right of free speak? Doesn't that then give Mr. Lewis the right to say what he did? Or is it not allowed if you disagree with a far right wing, ignorant, bigoted bully?

If one does not agree with the bully does that make one a sore loser and trader? Or does that make one more of a patriot because they know the United States of America is better that that?
