I am sure that many have seen Jonas Jackson's Go Fund Me page he created yesterday, asking for £15,000 to cover his medical bills and other costs.

Whilst I truly find it sad that Jonas's surgeries have resulted in complications requiring additional surgeries and medical treatment (I know what it feels like - I've been through 7 surgeries in the last 16 months), I have to address and call out some of the points he made in this Go Fund Me video, where Jonas is asking people to donate towards £15,000 that he wants.

- Jonas elected to have the original surgery in a private hospital costing him thousands of £s. He could have saved himself that huge cost by having the surgery done through the NHS (National Health Service) in a state hospital at ZERO cost to him, as is his right. Ultimately he did end up going to an NHS hospital for additional corrective surgery to fix the botch up he went through in the first place at the private hospital!

- He claims in his video and his IG post, that the NHS only covers some emergency surgeries. This is a blatant lie. The NHS covers ALL necessary surgeries whether emergency or not. The only surgeries it does not cover are elective surgeries for cosmetic purposes such as "plastic surgery", and even then, it does cover these on a discretionary basis when the cosmetic plastic surgery is required due to other situations, such as the result of accidents, fire injury, or other medical conditions which result in a seriously impaired physical appearance. The NHS also covers all additional follow up medical / surgical treatment which may be required at ZERO cost to the patient. Jonas wanting to do all this in private hospitals / clinics is a matter of his personal choice and not a matter of necessity. As someone who has needed the NHS hospital services etc., I can honestly say, the quality of service, professional care and treatment are some of the best one can ask for! We have some of the best hospitals in the world and all their services are free to U.K. residents and citizens.

- Jonas claims he also needs money donated to him to cover his rent, bills etc which he claims he is unable to pay for... Jonas lives in the U.K. and not in the USA. In Jonas's situation, the local authority where he lives in London will step in to cover his rent whilst he is "off sick" recovering from surgery and unable to work. He also gets his "monthly council tax" covered by the local authority and also gets help from the state to cover utility bills. (Additionally, utility companies, credit card companies etc. in the U.K. will put a moratorium on bill payments, if you reach out to them to explain your exceptional circumstance, which Jonas's is) He also gets SSP - statutory sick pay - from the state for as long as he is sick and unable to work.

- Jonas still has his Only Fans account going and has numerous subscribers to it, thus he still retains a reasonable monthly income stream, in addition to all the benefits he gets from the state during his recovery.

Jonas is not sharing the whole picture and truth in his video. I'm sorry to say he is being disingenuous and it feels like he his is trying to strengthen his bank balance, milking his situation at the expense of others!

This is why people shit all over actual GoFundMe pages that are genuinely needed. It's sad he's using it as an excuse. If he needs some help, that's one thing, but the way you broke it down for us its definitely not legit. I feel bad for people who desperately need help and make pages only to be laughed at or unhelped because people like this ruin it.

The fact that he’s making this case whilst shirtless and on a bed, essentially channeling his porn persona, kind of diminishes even further the sense that this is genuine need due to circumstances beyond his control rather than something self-inflicted.

Something most people don't know, go fund me takes a min 40% off the top of anything donated. Unless they've changed their policies. Something hinky going on, maybe, if not, wish him the best.

Can you post some more info about what you've said in this paragraph? I'm only asking as I'm from the U.K myself and I've not heard of local authorities or utility companies offering such a service.

If you have been in gainful employment (PAYE or self employed) before medical intervention and during the recovery period post surgery you have no income to support your payment of rent, you are entitled to approach your local council to seek assistance with the rent from them. You cannot be turfed out of your home if unable to pay your rent during periods of real sickness / medical surgery recovery (and no the common cold or flu is not in that category), if such leads to loss of income during that period. You need to approach your local council as a matter of urgency with supporting evidence when this happens as the process is time consuming.

Secondly, it is against the law in England for utility companies to cut off your utilities if:
1. there are children under the age of 18 residing at said property.
2. Someone who is officially recognized as sick / long term recovery from surgery etc.

The utility companies are still entitled to get paid for the provision of their services. However they can either come to a "friendly" agreement with the customer for a deferred payment - when income starts to come in again, or set up a mutually acceptable weekly / monthly payment which could be very, very low, like a £1.00 per week for example.

If no mutually satisfactory agreement for deferred payment or reduced weekly / monthly payment can be reached by both parties, then this will be determined by a local court, which looks at the finances of the individual before deciding a "repayment program" on behalf of the customer. These courts tend to lean very generously toward the customer rather than the utility supplier.

I concur. Sadly those abusing the Go Fund Me system to deepen their bank balance have totally ruined it for those who genuinely and desperately need financial help from wherever they can source it.

Thanks for the info! You seem very knowledgeable on such matters
