And "Rhys" is a Welsh name. But be that as it may, he was born in Dublin and grew up in Co. Cork. That would suggest that he's Irish, not Scottish.
his name isn't really johnathan rhys meyers.he assumed that name.it's something like michael o'driscoll or murphy,i'm not sure.and asfor that gay question,i read an interview in the sunday world magazine(irish newspaper)where he said he enjoyed watching america's next top model.case closed.

I don't know my Scot Actor's so please correct me if I am wrong. Are we talking about Arturo from Slider's, or the young man who was buggered in the Clive Owen Pic "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead"
Buggered is one way of describing rape and murder and yes he's the one...

Not gay. Married to an incredibly gorgeous and exotic woman. Lives in Camden, have seen him walking with his wife.

Does that mean that if you saw me walking with my (stereotypically Scandinavian/German) beautiful, tall, blond girlfriend you'd assume I was straight too? I bet make sure I always take my boyfriend along too, wouldn't people not realizing that bisexuality is also an option.

No not at all. I don't make assumptions. Have read in numerous articles in the British press about his wife and his marriage... and also mentioned that I had seen the two of them walking...

But similarly because he is striking and pretty and an actor...does that automatically make him gay or bisexual?

I was just trying to make a point about assumptions. It's like, in the movie "Sommersturm" (Summer Storm), Robert Stadlober (Tobi - main character) kisses Alicja Bachleda-Curus (Anke - gal pal) everyone stares and he responds, "What? I'm not allowed to kiss girls anymore, just because I'm gay."

I agree with you about assumptions...But I think it is a completely different matter when you start discussing celebrities lives/sexuality... If I saw you walking down the street with your girlfriend and/or boyfriend I wouldn't assume anything. (I would check you out, but I wouldn't assume anything  ) But this would be because I don't know you or anything about your life....

With celebrities there are certain aspects of their lives that are common knowledge - likes, dislikes, backround - garnered from magazine articles, television interviews etc. So we begin to make assumptions on things we don't know (sexuality in particular!) based on the things that we do (where they are seen, how they dress, comments they make etc.) They stop being assumptions and turn in to educated guesses - or more often than not wishful thinking!

Not sure why, probably the stage but his birth name is

Jonathan Michael Francis O'Keeffe And with the confirmation name of Francis I'd bet he was a little Catholic boy too.

One more thing before I go has any one been watching The Tudors? Not a bad series. Last week however, they played 'Elvis' prior to the Tudors, and it was fun to watch how much of Elvis was brought forward to Henry. The lip when he smiles. It's too bad though, that they dont' show more male nudity. Lots of female nudity but just mens butt's
So far though, it's been a pretty good series.

Haha! I remember it...

I especially liked the young page dutifully attending to the royal member...

Now that's service!

If you don't have Comcast OnDemand, rest assured the season should be out on DVD very soon.

The servant didn't swallow. Fire him!

Henry's vision of a severance package was somewhat different from ours.

I read he had some 72,000 people executed during his reign...High Treason was the most common "Termination Reason".

I don't follow the show--why was he doing that? I mean, did the king's date cancel at the last minute?

He wasn't 'taking' Anne before they were wed... and his marriage to Kathryn was still valid, well at least at that time.. it did happen a little later though.
