Well, a vote for Bush is a vote for EVERYTHING he stands for, you will be stuck with him for four more years, as well as his stupid cabinet, so please consider carefully if that is what you want. We don't have the luxury of agreeing with one small part of his agenda and not the rest, vote for the man and you get the whole package. Regardless of how you feel about the Biblical image of marriage, I think we all know that this has been a part of state's rights since the beginning, and legislation regarding religion is a no-no! Tender, would you be supporting this if you happened not to agree with it? My point here is just that it it convenient to only look at the fact that this is an issue you approve of (sadly), but the bigger picture is that if we give up this as a state's right, then the government will have more power to legislate our personal freedoms away. You may NOT agree with the next things to come down the pike, but the damage will already be done. Please look at this as a civil rights issue, which is what it is. If you agree with forfeiting civil rights, Please vote for Bush, otherwise pick someone else.

But federal legislation, the re-writing of the U.S. Constitution is perfectly acceptable as long as it is removing other peoples rights and not yours? Rights which have stood since the document was written? When this passes, it's a very short step to the banning of books, limiting religious freedom, restricting the freedom of the press (oh wait, they've already done that) and on and on. This is a FAR MORE SERIOUS MATTER THAN YOUR NOT WANTING ANY FAGGOTS TO GET MARRIED. The legislation removing the gay populations basic human, civil rights and liberties pale in comparison to the steps this "administration" invisions. As I understand your position, a child being raised by one man and one woman is ALWAYS superior to a child being raised by gays or lesbians. So a lesbian couple raise their kid in a loving and caring home is going to be more destructive to the child than a physically abusive straight couple, or a drug-addicted straight couple, or an uneducated crack mother who completely ignores her child or simply an alcoholic father and well-meaning mother? I mean on its face, isn&#39;t that absurd?

Personally I know a number of gay and lesbian couples who are raising their children in a loving, caring environment of high moral values, including a number who went all the way to Eastern Europe or the Far East to rescue an unwanted child. Is that child better off with the lesbian couple or would they be better off waiting another 10 years (or never) to be adopted by a straight couple.

Given how much harder gay and lesbian couples have to work to have children, the children are frequently wanted and loved even more. How will denying couples like that the right or ability to raise children help promote a better world?

Oh, and in case you don&#39;t realize it, gay and straight single people already can and do adopt children, as do many gay and lesbian couples.
