    Hi,

Today I am going to be stepping back into history, living history that is . I will be part of a Juneteenth commemoration and will be giving my eye witness account of what it was like on the day that freedom came in Texas. Though it occured on June 19th, 1865, over subsequent years it came to be known as "Juneteenth" I dont know exactly how they must have felt hearing the news of emancipation 2.5 years after the proclammation ending legalized slavery in the United States had been signed but I'm sure they were just happy to get the news... Does anyone have any Juneteenth stories?.

Happy Juneteenth, Kim. Don't forget the red soda.

I wish I got money for being a colored. Plus I'm dark-skinned, so I should get a bonus or something. I WANT THE 40 ACRES THE DEVIL TOOK FROM US.

    Thank you, sweetie.

Well we had a fish fry which was an overwhelming success. I dressed
in an authentic period costume and talked about how it felt to see the Yankees sail into Galveston. Afterwards, it was back to work serving fried fish corn bread, tater salad and lemonade with a doo rag and a cheese eatin' grin. People were losing their minds so much they wanted pictures with the freed negress! LMAO!
