In the last several years I have taken some much needed steps to improve my life not only physically but mentally. I have reading, and writing in my journal every day. I have listened to many people and read their books, Paulo Coelho, Eckhart Tolle, and Deepak Chopra to name a few and i mean many people who are proficient in living your best life. I have read a few psychology books and reading . I know that it is helping me realize that i am worthy and the best person as long as i know, see it, and believe it. I bought into the system and for that i am much more happier. Yes, I know happiness is an inside job, but it took me a long dang time to figure that out.. I guess better late than never right and I do remember posting this same conversation before, but it is well worth repeating, seeing as how i don't post on here much. But that's ok. Well anyways. I just wanted to share this bit of info with ya'll. Just me talking. I want to wish you all a Happy New Year and we can have many more beautiful stories to share. Until then, take care of yourself.

Major Congrats to you @kewlkid75. Reading your post has made my day! I know from your posts over the recent past that you've been on a "self-improvement journey", if you will. And I appreciate you taking time to update and share your success.

I am so happy for you that you did what you needed to do to get where you needed to be. IMO, you found the secret to making your life the best: YOU!

And I salute you for having the self-awareness and fortitude to recognize what you needed to address and then put a plan together and executed it. Kudos my friend.

Your post reminds me of a phrase I heard many years ago: If it is to be, it is up to me. It became my life's mantra.

I wish you nothing but continued happiness and fulfillment for all the years to come. :sun::party::sun::party::sun:

You've always seemed like a decent sort to me, and a genuinely good person :). How much more self-improvement do you have left to do? Nobody needs you to be perfect.

Thank you for the kind words. Appreciate it with all my heart. I am a constant work in progress. I do self improvement/self development teachings, writing..what have you, daily because it keeps me grounded. I am definitely not perfect, nevrn described myself as such because it's a never ending battle if someone does try being perfect. It's like trying to be happy all the time. That line moves constantly. So, I just work on making sure that I am the best person I can be and admit to flaws and all and be willing to be as vulnerable as I can and accept I am a mere man who's life is what I make it.

I think the biggest step on the road to self-improvement anyone can take is to realize the biggest mistake that just about everyone makes. Don't make excuses! We all do it. There area always 100 reasons why we do or don't do something and it's human nature to not want to blame ourselves. It's an old cliche, but if you really want something, you have to make it happen. If you are worried about what others will think of your choices, perhaps you don't want it enough. Live your life for you. It's the only way to be happy. By that I don't mean you should not care about others or be totally selfish, but you need to come first. I think self-help books are a good start but in the end, one has to rely on their own strength. Good luck to everyone who sets goals for themselves and works hard to achieve them. Happy New Year!

@kewlkid75:

You are indeed a beautiful person.:)

If you follow the true yogic/buddhist path, you will start to taste happiness. Bliss is even possible if you persist in your journey.

You are not your thoughts - you are the thinker of your thoughts. You are the space of profound silence and peace between your thoughts.

Thank you for the kind words. I do follow the Buddhist path and Yogic philosophy. I have achieved more by simply being attuned to my thoughts. I realized that I am the master of my own thoughts. I am grateful for the opportunity live a fulfilling and healthy and happy life. I know I am on the right path and it's my duty to make sure I continue to find balance and love in self. It's a beautiful feeling. Yes it is, a truly beautiful feeling.
