I’m so sorry to those of you who feel that way about religion. For me personally, it makes me a happier individual and I know it can for you to and I hope it does.

And your post sums up everything I hate about religion. Nobody here has criticised religion, they have criticised the fact that someone has essentially erased part of their life and denounced it, in order to be 'saved'. The implication with his new found faith, is that someone who is attracted to the same sex, and acts upon those attractions, is not worthy and is wrong.

You have then felt the need to express to us that you are happy because of your religious beliefs, us non believers could be happier too. Again, the implication is that we, as non believers, are less than and missing out. My life is very full thank you very much. I don't need a misguided belief in some mythical figure, or loose interpretation of some scripture, to make me feel full and my happiness does not depend on it, quite the opposite. You are entitled in your beliefs and if they work for you, great but I wouldn't feel the need to seek you out to tell you where how your life would be improved if you were a non believer, please don't do the same to me, as a follower of this thread. I'm here to get off, not be preached to!

No criticism at all, I was simply stating my beliefs which differ from those of the OP.

no one doubts that those are your beliefs... or that you were stating them... or that they differed from the OP. But... what you’d said was OBVIOUSLY critical of the OP in much the same way that everything I’m saying here is simply stating my own beliefs AND a criticism

I was critical of the fact that, in part the OP, more Justin, is implying that my beliefs are leading me on a path of misery and damnation. That I could be happy if I found belief.

I didn’t see that implication anywhere until you raised it. He said it makes him a happier individual and that it could make you a happier individual. This is just his view and it’s not an unkind one. He’s not saying that you are actually unhappy. This is not different than a salesman saying that a car can make you feel more alive (he’s not saying you’re dead inside.) So, it sounds like the hostility is your own invention.
