And probably everyone else in this region... lol. I'm not sure I've seen this much snow since I've lived in Kansas City (20 years...). If I have, it was a very very long time ago. They even canceled work, I haven't ever had that happen before. 30mph wind gusts, visibility is nearly none, I even heard some thunder a bit ago. From what I heard last night, it's essentially supposed to snow all day, and not really stop until early Friday morning. This video I took from my phone was how things were at 9 o'clock this morning. I worry about my dad, he went into work this morning for whatever crazy reason, and he isn't home yet. I want to call him, but I also don't dare risk him trying to answer his phone if he's driving home in this stuff either. I hope everyone that lives in this general vicinity stays safe! This winter weather warning covered the entirety of Kansas, most of Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska, and bits of Oklahoma too.

Of the 12 years I have lived here, easily the most snow I have seen around the Wichita area. For a Colorado boy, Im loving it. Especially the thunder snow.

So is the drought officially over?

Wow I think we have all gotten very spoiled with mild weather the last 20 years because these photos and what I've seen on television were a common occurrence every 10 days or so...years ago when we used to have (a real) winter and what prompted me to move back to where a harsh winter looks like this...

I'm in Iowa. Went in to work today, no snow until about noon. Two guys said they were taking today off. (made their minds up yesterday) One guy lives 2 miles from work, the other 3 miles. No hills, city driving, straight shot.

I live 21 miles away with hills and less snow plows in the country. Go figure. I did leave work at 2 PM, after what work was needed was finished. Gotta love the younger generation.

Got home and cleaned off around 3" about 2:30 PM. Went back out around 6:30 PM and did another 5" or so, less work in the morning. Hope the snow is about finished. I'll drive the 21 miles and be at work tomorrow. I'm betting 2-1 odds the city boys will stay home again tomorrow.

As to the drought being over with, I have to say down here we were about 5 or 6 inches behind before the storm. It takes about 5 or 6 inches to make up what would be an inch of rain. So we are still behind, but it was def a big hit that we needed. Hopefully the moisture keeps coming, this brown was starting to get depressing, epecially in the summer.

Do you have to work tomorrow? My employer was at least smart enough to have the day off BEFORE everybody got there, unlike last week

I believe it was the moderating team. According to the Moderator Actions thread it had something to do with inappropriate content. She had a blog entry for about 20 seconds which I had read before it vanished and which might be what they were referring to.....or something else entirely.

It shows as a 7 day ban and was done on the 3rd so she will hopefully come back in a few more days. Her posts are always good reading.
