it's all about ratings. you people haven't figured it out yet. the masses don't go for your left leaning bullshit.

The masses watch Adult Swim more than any cable news network. Fox barely has 2 million viewers on any program. On any other network, they would have been dropped. And as stated millions of times before, the core audience that uses MSNBC as a news source know they can get information online as well. They don't have to sit around the boob tube every single night to get the information they need. And that's reflected with monthly webpage statistics for each news organization. MSNBC & CNN trounce Fox in this regard. So in reality, the "masses" as you put it do go for it. So sorry you slowpokes still need 60 year old technology to get your fill.

Oh, and BTW... it appears that Olbermann left the show on his own. Not once did the USA Today piece mention that he was fired on Friday. Does anyone read the stories they source anymore?

Actually maxcok and I are lovers and his dick isn't as big as he says it is.

erm . . . believe it or not, Lurker is 100% gay. He has a deep antipathy for lesbos and black prezdents well documented in his post history.

Sadly, he lives in my neighborhood, but we don't claim him and do our best to shun him.

But it sounds so much better to say a libtard was FIRED  We know FoxFauxFixed News never fires anyone. All the sleaze you can air and don't worry no bar is too low.

I'm very familiar with the professor being targeted by Beck's campaign. Frances Fox Piven and her late husband, Richard Cloward, wrote a number of political science and sociological texts on the struggles that poor people have had to face in order to earn any sort of social safety net resources and welfare assistance. One of their well-documented books, Poor People's Movements, describes tactics that earned, at best, temporary concessions before city bureaucrats sought to strip them away again. Although the tone of that book is somewhat pessimistic in places, it encourages me to continue doing research on how the "little guy" can secure footholds in local resources.

But of course Beck wouldn't know anything about that -- reading the book goes against his MO.

Keith olberman was a piece of work, full of liberal propaganda. Let me ask you keith olberman fans and the rest of you liberal idiots, who created "political correctness"? You stinking liberals created it to stifle free speech, in a country where we have free speech rights, the liberals are the only ones that want to be heard. Free speech means both sides saying freely what they want to say, with no right to impinge on the others right. Its funny how us conservatives constantly say you have the right to say what you want even if you are wrong but we would fight to defend your right to say whatever it is you want to say. But not a commie liberal like Olberman who's sole purpose is the squelching of free speech and for only one sides view. Well folks that not what the USA is about.

Not sure whats going on over at MSNBC with Keith Olbermann leaving. Based on the article over at Yahoo, it would appear either he was fired or that Keith left on bad terms with NBC brass.

I don't know why.

Keith has been the posterboy for MSNBC's venomous anti-conservative, anti-captialist ideology. It's not like Keith was a Black Sheep over there or anything. On the contrary, it seemed to me like they were looking to fill the lineup with a bunch of Keith knockoffs. Rachel is the "female Keith", Ed is the "Blue Collar Keith", and O'Donnell is the "Dull but Respectable anchorman looking Keith". All of them reeked of the same hate and negativity of Keith but with a different character.

Anyway, I know all you pro-Keith commie people out there expect all us Conservatives to start cheering, but you're wrong. Keith was just a small symptom of the underlying problem. We'll start cheering when America gets back to the days where Americans reject the anti-freedom, anti-Constitution and anti-American ideology that has funded organizations like MSNBC. That will only happen when enough Americans get so sick of MSNBC that they no longer can earn enough revenue through commercial advertising due to their low ratings. We are on the right track, because MSNBC ratings are very low, but they are still in business spreading their lies and hatred so it's no time to celebrate yet. And losing Keith may not have been connected to ratings, or affect them from here on so celebrating Keith's departure is pointless right now.

That's my two cents.

You're overcharging for your reactionary opinion.

Did you forget that the Bush administration ordered protesters to be kept blocks away from him? Did you also forget that the same administration arranged to have people in the audiences at town hall meetings with pre approved questions? "Good" Republicans only believe in free speech when it's what they want to hear.

Free speech means both sides saying freely what they want to say, with no right to impinge on the others right.

Free speech is the freedom to say whatever they want, which is what everyone is doing on this board right now. HOWEVER, there is a responsibility that comes with it... one that many blinded ideologues don't seem too happy to oblige to. They think with the freedom of speech comes the freedom to offend with no reprimand since it's what they believe. That provision, of course, is NOT listed under the First Amendment. However, if that's the game they want to play then the rest of us have that same exact "right". And you best believe if you abuse your rights to agitate and piss off people, someone is gonna let you have it.

In the end, if you don't want people attacking you then watch your mouth. This isn't about being politically correct. It's about exercising an ounce of respect to others who may be viewing. What's so wrong with that?

Its funny how us conservatives constantly say you have the right to say what you want even if you are wrong but we would fight to defend your right to say whatever it is you want to say. You know the true irony of this statement? Keith Olbermann, the very one you claim is trying to impede on people's free speech, stated that very line several times during his run on MSNBC, primarily during his Special Comments and most recently on an issue regarding the censoring of the N-Word in the book "Huckleberry Finn". Perhaps if you watched, you would have known this?

Now they need to get rid of the rest of the trash at MSNBC.

We can only hope. Getting rid of that hypocritical Blowbermann was the first step, now they need to focus on getting rid of that complete failure Sergeant Schultz, and the "thrill up my leg" Chris Matthews.

Maybe there is a chance of PMSNBC becoming a legit news and commentary network....

Keith is visciously left wing and I love it. He'd get emotionally carried away periodically with the "Special Comment", but that was cool with me. I'm going to miss him stepping on conservative toes the way few others dared. I hear all the time about the so-called "liberal media". His firing just goes to show who really controls the things.

You're an idiot and beneath the dignity of a substantive reply.

Thanks. I posted my comment last night after a grueling (and not especially lucrative) shift at work, a bit bleary and exhausted. Had I bothered to click Gawker before LPSG, I'd have had some more info on KO's departure from MSNBC.

They, like MLB, speculate that the Comcast/MSNBC "merger" was really at the heart of all this. Seeing as how Comcast is hardly a progressive corporation, it would appear at least that there's something of a cleansing going on. Maddow, on Real Time last night was cagey, but her concern over her own job security is palpable if you watch the clip I've linked.

I've been on record several times here as not being an especially devoted fan of KO, despite the fact that I agree with much of what he says (his take on Prop 8 was especially poignant). Vitriolic blowhards score cheap points within their key base demographics, but lower the civility of public discourse all around. Years ago I used to pine for someone of Limbaugh's over-the-top polemic, but when I found it in KO, I found it as off-putting and distasteful in a way that surprised even little me. I'm sure there'll be folks here to disagree with this equivalency, but I stand by it. They each use a kind of outraged self aggrandizing rhetoric that cheapens discourse instead of elevating it.

The fact that I disagree with Limbaugh and agree with KO does not blind me to this.

Maddow, on the other hand, is not a blowhard: she's thoughtful and fiercely clever. I wish she'd tone down the eye-rolling snark and "irony" that are such trademarks of her show, these mannerisms fuel her detractors' distaste. But her actual tone is calm and soothingly cool, even when she's discussing things that obviously mean a great deal to her personally. In every possible way, she's the anti-Coulter. I also find the numerous, casual smirks on this board regarding her lesbianism/lack of girly-girl affect really off-puttingly homophobic; if such language were used regarding a gay man's affect it would be rightly called out and penalized as the slurs they so obviously are. I guess they get a pass because there are so very few (if any at all 100%) lesbians here.

Ok I got this far, but then I had to give up on this trolling piece of shit masquerading as a thread.

Turns out he's just a greedy piece of shit that wants more money. See, even the most ardent socialists are nothing but fucking hypocrites.

1. He's straight, no cock sucking.

2. He's like 6'4" and he'd kick your ass.

3. His contract was ended and no new contract was offered by MSNBC, so your bringing greed into it is irrelevant, and incorrect.

4. But it's interesting that you accuse him of being greedy for money in one breath, and then in the next you label him an ardent socialist.

A confoundingly inane series of ill-thought out insults. A weak effort, even by the standards applicable to the source.

Don't call me "dumbass". I'm much more intelligent than you, and far more charming, cultured, handsome, desirable, well-read, well-travelled, and of much more discerning tastes, etc., etc.

I'm also quite modest.

lol
