Was it a rumor, or is it true that KENT McCORD was known to
be hung like a horse? Something I heard a couple of years ago.

Always thought this would be an incredible truth, as he was
one of the most gorgeous men on television at the time of
    'ADAM-12'...

Does anyone have pics or information?

.............................and that's "unusual" for people on TV?????? Women have been getting away with it for years --- why not just a pretty male face on a TV program even though he can't act  .........actually, I don't think Martin Milner ripped up the boards on that show either (even though he DID sign my base drum when I was in the high school band and he was invited to my home town's 100th birthday celebration.) -- just thought I'd throw that in!!
By the way --- did McCord ever do anything OTHER than 1 Adam 12??

    Yes, yes he is alive.

This unsexy Libran (born September 26,1942) is scheduled to turn 65 this year and just went through his 45th wedding anniversary on Bastille Day (JUly 14) with Cynthia Lee Doty McCord.

The known father of 3 screaming bratty yuplets (Kristen, Megan and Michael, he was said to be of less adequacy in the trousers than his Adam12 co-star Martin Milner who is apparently 75 going on 76 having been born in December of 1931. Milner is married since 1957 and is alleged to have 4 children. Clearly Milner is a better love beast.

OH MY GOD, Kent McCord, my first official crush. I think I was about 10 or 11 years old and addicted to Adam 12. This was long before I realized I was gay or gave a damn about cock size. He was just the best looking thing. He did re-appear a few years ago guesting on Farscape, playing Ben Browders dad. Weird in a way as Browder was sort of my latest crush. Now there's a three way I have had many dreams about.

Ah, yes, I remember it well:rolleyes: My first attraction to a celebrity (my first gay crush) was Kent McCord. Remember? The late 1960s/early 1970s NBC police drama Adam-12? If you are my age (45 or older), you know exactly who I'm talking about---Kent McCord was that tall, lean, boyish-looking rookie cop. He and Martin Milner protected and served the upstanding citizens of Los Angeles (in living color). Before my David Cassidy crush, before my Greg Brady crush, there was my Kent McCord crush:smile: Take a look at his website www.kentmccord.com Look at his gallery there:cool: I remember watching Adam-12 and thinking, "I'd like to see him naked"...I was maybe 7 years old at the time (Ah, you never forget your first crush...he still has a special place in my heart). He was just fuckin' cool....and I was a horny, naughty little bastard from day one:eek:

Thanks, blueonblue... I'd nearly forgotten about Adam-12.....and the handsome Kent McCord. He was also my biggest crush (after Robert Conrad on "The Wild Wild West"...)

    Ah, the 60s and 70s!

If you go to his website, on the 2nd page of the gallery is a picture of him with a women credited as "friend" and Burt Reynolds.

If I'm not mistaken, his friend is Marilyn Chambers, porn star.

I especially like the one of him and his dad...

Glad you boys remembered him! Yeah, at the age of 7 or so, I too knew there was something about him that I wanted to get close to...Yeah, the pic of him and his dad is nice. Like I said, the crush on him was more meaningful than the others I had (David Cassidy, Barry Williams, etc). I think I had a sense that his TV persona, Officer Jim Reed, would protect me...and, maybe I'd get my chance to see what he was swingin'....Now, almost 38 years later (and countless real life encounters with men in uniforms), I think Officer Jim Reed is my "Rosebud".

Kent McCord to the best of my knowledge is now retired. Few realize how far he dated back. The one who gave him his big "break" or his start on the small screen was none other than Ozzie Nelson. He portrayed one of Rick's college buddies on the Ozzie and Harriet Television show. McCord kind of worked his way out of show business. It is hard to tell if it was voluntary or not. Like others to come later he became vocal and in sharing his opinions on life made enemies. He was a favorite with the late Jack Webb. He had a great work ethic and was always ready to do his job and that was a characteristic of him from a young age. It paid off with guest shots on Dragnet and Emergency and as a full timer on Adam-12 as "Jim Reed". Surprisingly I did have some contact with Webb and contrary to rumor I found him to be a really nice guy. However Jack was as a person much like the "Joe Friday" character he portrayed. He was a loner, lived in a small apartment, did not like trappings and for years drove a dark sable brown Nissan Maxima. He was a shrewd businessman, to the point, and direct.
We shared a common restaurant on Sunset Blvd that we both liked when I was working in the entertainment industry many years ago. It wasn't fancy but the food was good and so were the prices. We shared a booth on multiple occasions when it was crowded and became friendly faces to each other and that was it.

I ran into Randolph Mantooth not long ago and he is looking a little ragged around the edges and Kevin Tighe (Roy DeSoto from Emergency) and he has not aged particularly in a flattering manner either. Both were at a car show in Los Angeles by coincidence at the same time.

I would agree that McCord had his "eye candy" elements, but then so did Rick Nelson!

Thank you. Nice information about Hollywood's not too distant past. I picked up Dragnet 1968 on DVD this week (plan on watching it all weekend). I already have Dragnet 1967. Jack Webb also fascinated me---Joe Friday is an American TV icon. From what I've been told, during the 1960s, people would wander in to the LAPD headquarters and ask to speak to Sergeant Friday. He was THAT convincing. (Who could forget "Now you listen to me, you gutter-mouth punk..."?) Sadly, he died much too young.
