Remember, he quite short, so he benefits from the ratio of height vs length. It's still large.
What do you consider short? Since you are a photographer, you are probably used to taking pics of models over 6 ft tall, but unless he's sub-5'6", I wouldn't say he's "short". He doesn't look that much shorter than Griffin Barrows in the session they did together, and Griffin is 5'11.
