no actually i could not post irritated about the bigoted stereotyping of any woman who is anti-heels without saying what those bigoted stereotypes are.

For many years, the MenofThunder have been making shoes. It's the family business (excluding me). I'm not a shoe-fanatic, but I understand the work and effort involved in making even one pair. Seeing them get needlessly damaged was, indeed...frustrating. (Hope you enjoyed the history lesson.)
all hail the MenofThunder! :notworthy: I have tried making moccasins and it's humbling.

i can't wear high heels. they just don't seem suited to me and i can't walk in them properly.

i wear runners or mary janes. i love the MBT brand. i think they really help my posture. they make some cute mary janes.

i've got some earth shoes too. they make some nice boots, i've been told.

i have some vintage high heels. i have basically never worn them. i have tried a few times and can never manage more than an hour or two. somebody gave me a pair of heels from prague and i gave them away. they were so gorgeous, i figured someone should get use out of them since i wasn't.

i'm not sure what the big deal is about the croc brand (why people poke fun). most styles are not pretty i admit, but i have an olive green pair that look like this. i use them for water aerobics class or on the beach.

I'm still a bit on the fence on this one.

When I'm at work, I usually just wear flats or sneakers. I'm on my feet the whole day for at least a 12 hour shift. In my spare time, I do however like to wear pumps. I usually try to go for a higher quality shoe though; I've noticed they are much nicer to my feet and I can walk on them for quite some time without much trouble. Though, I do try to keep it to a minimum, as I'm convinced that - even though I love the look - they're horrible for my ankles and spine. No shoe is worth health problems on a later age.

If only heels didn't make your legs look so good..

I tried on a couple of pairs of Vibram five fingers yesterday. I hated them. The big toe is too close. The little toe is too far away. My toes are not perfectly straight. The shoes didn't care, and would not bend once I even got them in. My arches have fallen. I thought these shoes would give me an opportunity to rebuild the muscles in my feet, but I don't think they will after all. I will try on a few more.

On the other hand, 4.5" heels are still easy to get on. And they still look fantastic.

Ah, hell.... I go away for a week, and a thread pops up on my favorite accessory.... SHOES!!!!

Most of the time, I run around in flip flops, flat sandals and tennies. (I don't need heels to define my calf muscles. Eight years of intense ballet and 17 years of strength training have given me all the muscle definition I need.)

And when I wear heels, it's NEVER with pointy toes.... no, no, no.

I like having well-kept feet and painted toenails. I even exercise my feet to make sure the arches never fall.

And I intend to keep my feet in shape because I live in southern California where your feet are on display in sandals nine months of the year.

I've heard similar complaints about the Vibrams and I've looked into alternatives, but there are seriously whole communities based around minimalist running shoes and the like. Off the top of my head I remember that nike, newbalance, a company called Altra, one called Zemgear... It's going to be a trendy thing for the next few years, and potentially beyond there.

Nevertheless, looking for a shoe to fix a fallen arch might be a bit too much looking for a magic bullet. If you know a good physical therapist or an especially good personal trainer they could show you a bunch of exercises to retrain the arch in your foot. I happened to read this article earlier today, which may be a good starting point, but a wider variety of exercises with increasing levels of difficulty would be necessary for true treatment. Intrinsic Foot Muscle Strengthening: A Comparison of Short Foot and Toe Curl Exercises | The Sports Physiotherapist

I'm not a doctor or physical therapist, so take that with a grain of salt.

I love all my shoes. Every pair is a tiny treasure in my closet. They range from flats to 5"ers.

I rarely wear anything higher than 2" when out and about unless it's an occassion where I won't have to walk or stand up for the majority of the time.

Having said that, I haven't worn a pair of 3" heels outside in a very longtime.
