Anyone else affected by the recent layoffs announced over the last couple of days? Just got my 60 day "surplus" notice. Fuck!

Damn, sorry to hear about that. What industry are you in?
On a side subject, what do you guys and girls think about the automotive bailout?

Sorry to hear that tbnd. If you don't mind me asking, what dept did you work in? That will impact your next course of action.

I agree, I watched the hearings this afternoon and did you notice that each of the CEO's of the automotive said that they drove to Washington this time in hybrid cars, big fucking deal.

I've been lucky so far, but I do know how you feel as it has happened to me twice in the past, the last time I was out of work for seven months. Hang in there, I'm sure you'll find something soon.

Along with some idiot politicians and union bigwigs but they would proably still get their golden parachute retirement plans :duh:

Actually I heard that they were shiped in by semi trucks and just driven in to the city :tounge-in-cheek:

The unemployment figures are really shocking. But your guns are pointed at the wrong CEOs. At least the ones now laying off had tried to keep jobs in your country.

It is actually an understatement. Not only had job losses for October and September been underestimated, but today's number does not include the half-million plus people who have exited the workforce (presumably out of frustration).

I got laid off about 7 months ago from a "recession proof" company.

It took me about a month, but I found a much better job.

    Good luck to you...
    You are not alone.
