The "LPSG and the zodiac" thread seems to show a dip at one time of the year. (I don't know my signs well enough to know [or care] when that is.) I wondered if there might be a seasonal component, but that assumes that everyone answering has a (large) penis.

If it's seasonal, that would be reversed for those born in the Southern Hemisphere. So this poll is intended to sort that out.

I've arbitrarily defined "large" as 7" or more because it' larger than average, and won't exclude too many people. Sorry <7" guys, no hard feelings.

the compelling response would indicate you should open it up a bit.

The majority of people on here and in the world are from the northern hemisphere so its unlikely that there will be a decent sample size.
Looks like less than 10% of LPSG users are from the south - http://www.sharenator.com/w/lpsg.org
Also, the differences in that zodiac thread look like they aren't statistically significant.
Not to mention there doesnt seem like a good reason why they should be anyway.

I was born in November, but I don't think that has anything to do with the size of my penis.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. People from either hemisphere should enter, but because I'm looking for a seasonal effect, I want Southern Hemisphere people to enter the month six months before/after Northern Hemisphere people so that people born in the same season enter the same slot. Clear now?

I really have no idea, in fact I doubt it, but it's not preposterous that hormone supplies should be different at different times of the year. If we don't ask, we won't find out. The result in the zodiac poll was suggestive, that's all.

Technically, the upper cap of average is 6", so technically it's >6" that qualifies as "large", and ≤6" that qualify as average.

I actually think this is pretty interesting, but statistics and demographic stuff just fascinate me. So far there seems to be a spike in March... twice as many big penises as the average month.

I feel like this could be simpler-
Spring (above average)
Summer (above average)
Fall (above average)
Winter (above average)
Spring (avg/below avg)
Summer (avg/below avg)
Fall (avg/below avg)
Winter (avg/below avg)
Female

Average/Below Average being 6in(15cm) or less
Average being greater than 6 (6.1+)

and then you would get both a high AND low demographic, and there's no confusion over months between the hemispheres.

Maybe I'm dumb (and from the Southern Hemisphere), but I don't understand the options and the brackets! I kinda understand, but it just seems a bit odd...

Well I just wanted to make sure, since I'm looking for an effect, so I set the bar a little higher than it need be.

and would it be such a huge surprise spring babies have bigger dicks? Supposedly hormone kick into high gear in spring, and genital development is in 3rd trimester, IIRC.

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, click on the box that has your birth month outside the brackets. If you live in the Southern Hemisphere, click on the one that has your birth month inside the brackets.

That way, whereever you live, you will be clicking on a box corresponding to the same season of the year.

Yes, that would be another way of doing it. I guess I went for months rather than seasons because I'd come from the zodiac one. On the other hand, there might be disaagreement in different places about when seasons begin and end, and what about people born in the tropics? (Of course they wouldn't experience any seasonal effects either.)

The whole "average"/"bigger than average" thing is a bit fraught: what's the most tactful way of dealing with people with small penises?

Ideally you'd get people to put in their length, their birth month and their hemisphere, and let a spreadsheet sort it out. These polls are oversimplified for any but the most basic kind of survey, and it's become a curse when polls ask people their opinions about facts.

I put "I don't have a penis" rather than "female" for the sake of trans and intersex.

Oh, and Autumn is only called "Fall" in the US and Canada.

I think we're on our way to showing that nothing correlates with penis size!

I have over 8" and was born in October. The above poster is right though, it is rediculous. The only thing that really controls penis size is genes and also testoterone levels at puberty. Sky high levels, levels which are so much higher than most teenagers get have been linked to big increases in penis size. I for one can attest to that, during puberty I was such a moody git and I felt like a sex addict, not that I was getting any :) I think that created the big increase in penis size whereas average testosterone levels, which may still be high for a boy going through puberty will more than likely result in an average penis size. It could just be genes though and the very high levels of testosterone triggers the growth. For example, hypothetically, if you gave a boy going through puberty steroids it doesn't therefore mean that he is going to end up with a large penis at the end of puberty. So I guess the final answer is genes, with testosterone being thr trigger.
