no, no,no, ro…
it's not the end of summer for every northern hemisphere lpsg members…
...
summer just never ends for me…

:sun::sun::sun::sun::sun:
from your intertropical lpsg friend, ro…

last monday… tropical storm dorian center passed to about 100 kilometers/60 miles to the south of my island… over barbados first and saint lucia thereafter…
heavy rainfalls organized in pulsating squall lines crossed my island in a general easterly flow… winds generally remained below or just at the storm force threshold…
some damages related to floodings essentially in the southern part of the island…

this saturday evening… dorian is now a powerful hurricane threatening the bahamas and florida…
I wish to lpsg members from these areas to take care of themselves…
thank you, ro...

Taking a few days off to relax, from a non stop spring / summer or work . Trying to cut back some of the weeds that have grown everywhere. Stockpiling sticks and downed branches, I suck at making fires in the fireplace, so I need lots of kindling /sticks . Cleaning, as my dirt, literally has dirt on top of it . Chasing the frogs out of the pool, that I have neglected all summer. Taking a few last spins, with the top down on the car. And last but not least planning to make some BBQ smoke on Monday , if it does not rain

You are one of the lucky ones, as your summer never ends. I also wish our members to be safe, as Dorian mover north

But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest,
Nor shall Death braggest thou wander'st in his shade
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

Shakespeare, Sonnet 18

thank you, halcyondays!!…
I've only understood the first verse…
:)

I've also noticed the rhymes system… fade/owest/shade/growest… and see/thee…
it's seems to me that each verse has got 10 syllables… except the third where I count 11...
not sure of course…
please, correct me if necessary…
thank you again, halcyondays...

terrific dorian apparently caused hellish/abominable conditions in the abacos islands and grand bahama… northern bahamas…
the cataclysmic power of the hurricane has been enhanced by its very low motion across these islands…
in fact dorian's eye remained several long hours almost stationnary over or in the immediate vincinity of grand bahama...
I'm sad and shocked…

Summer. *spits on the ground utters curse*

can't wait for cooler temps and earlier sunsets.

No more crazy light bills. No more sweating through my bra walking the dogs.

I miss my hoodies.

Wishing your life away is a bad habit, Ro. We've still technically got another 17 days. Mind you autumn is a shite season, bring on winter, as it'll eventually give way to spring, the best season of all.

You got it. The rhyme scheme is classic English sonnet and the meter is iambic pentameter. The whole sonnet is:

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May
And summer's lease hast all to short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines
And often is his gold complexion dimmed
And every fair from from fair sometime declines
By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest
Nor shall death bragg'st thou wander'st in his shade
When in eternal lines to time thou growest.
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

It's one of the most famous of Shakespeare's sonnets. He's praising his reader's ageless beauty.

Your comment that summer never ends where you live in the tropics brought it instantly to mind... thy eternal summer shall not fade. ;)
