OK I have been putting off posting this all day long, but I have had a glass of wine and now feel comfortable talking about this.
I have been having more sex than usual this week (that's not the problem) But I have developed a really gross red bumpy rash on my penis. Is it possible I have developed an allergy to latex? I have been using condoms since....um 1974!
Any thoughts?

I hate to post this but this could be herpes. You should get yourself checked out by a doctor to make sure. If not herpes, then it could be an allergy to almost anything you've been exposed to. Alternatively, when I've had a lot of sex with my wife (always natural), sometimes my penis gets raw and irritated and takes a few days to recover. But check out the herpes to be sure.

I once came down with a horrific blistering rash starting at the base of my dick and spreading under my pubes. I was so freaked out I didn't even wait for an appointment, I just went straight to the emergency room. Turns out a combination of 1) Allergic to boyfriend's sperm and 2) Friction burn from his not too recently shaved nether regions.

Just saying, it may look horrifying, but it could turn out to be nothing terrible at all. Still, hit the doc's office to make sure.

OK well that's interesting because the rash starts at the base of my penis where the condom stops and moves upward! I hope I'm not allergic to my other half.

If you were truly allergic to latex, you would have noticed it by now. You'd most likely have problems with your hands, feet, and other sweaty areas.

Latex is in damn near everything, so you could get rashes from your socks, shoes, underwear, adhesive bandages, adhesives in general, condoms, rubber gloves, sex toys. The list goes on and on.

Who put the condom on you? If you did, a latex allergy would have a high probability of causing blisters on your fingers as well. If I hold a condom for just 15 seconds, that's long enough to cause blisters and red spots that last for 2-4 weeks!

That being said, it could still be an allergic reaction. Is it a lubricated type condom? Are they coated with Nonoxydol-9 or some other spermacide? Is this a new brand of condom, or your regular one?

OK another interesting theory. New condoms with lubricant. (Maybe it's the lubricant)

have you changed condom brands in the last week? if you use lubricated condoms you might sensitive to a different lube. non-lubricated and you might be getting that rash from talc.

could be a mild thrush reaction cuz ya been working Nudeyorker Jr too hard.
Maybe, I have not had this much sex in a week since I was in college.
you might want to try some home relief until you see the doctor. warm water with a couple of teaspoons of vinegar, ya just rinse ya bits and dry everything off really well.I have chilled herb tea bags on it right now.

minimag beat me to it.

a mild allergic reaction to latex is something as non-lethal as a reddening, itching or mild sting where ya come in contact with latex. That's what makes me think it is that, because it's where the condom stops and had the greatest amount of friction.

second stage is a localized rash or hives all over the body. I'm flushed with a fever.

the whole body reaction is usually a sign of more severe allergy. the whole not breathing, fingers turn purple and ya kinda start to die.
Yikes!

Went to the Doc, he thinks it's a reaction to the lubricant in the condom. Will know for sure in a couple of days. Meanwhile the rash is much less angry looking and feeling.
