It really is a shame that people will put others through these things, such as calling them over and over again, etc. - What's even more horrible is the fact that there isn't all that much help out there for the problem. I cannot even begin to understand how these people that do this stuff can live with themselves.

These people all fit a fairly predictable profile. Unfortunately it's harder to pick up on online until they're already obsessed. Did you see the silly song the Spank posted in the ETC thread? It was funny and fairly accurate. It's usually someone who isnt' very successful in relationships in real life, starts casually talking to someone online, she thinks they're just chatting, he's falling in love. They've never seen each other, never discussed meeting, dating, hanging out- but he's convinced "this is the ONE". She gets weirded out by the constant pmms and emails and chats so she gets away using any excuse possible, and he explodes into threats, whining, self deprication, suicide threats, "I can find you anytime I want" threats, blast posts about how their relationship (?) meant so much to him, and he can't imagine life without her. Yes, every single one of these things happened here, and I just can't believe people already don't seem to remember, it was only a few months ago.

As for the pic stealers, they are less threatening to me personally, but equally pathetic. If they're that unhappy with the way they look, how could it poosibly make them feel better about themselves to have someone interested in them thinking they look like someone else? I just don't get it. That would make me feel even worse about myself, that I was so ugly I had to send someone a pic of someone else. What if they ever do meet?

Here's a funny one. I met a guy from another site and we were planing to meet. Being here on lpsg has got me asking to see guy's dicks, so he sent me a dick pic and it was a nice long one, about 8". Caucasian. btw. We got to the restaurant, and he was definitely an East Indian! I thought to myself, maybe I looked at the pic wrong, or I was remembering the wrong guy, or somehow I was mistaken, but we got back to my place and I pulled it up on the computer while he was in the bathroom. When he came out I asked him "How does an Indian guy grow a white dick?" He tried to front still and say it was his, just that the light was bright, so I made him pull of his pants, and he had about a 4" at best, and yes I got it hard with lotion to make sure! I promptly kicked his ass out, outed him on the site, and sent him an email to end all doubt of what I thought of his stupidity. He could have at least stolen a pic of someone the same race! Duh. I hate liars, and I won't tolerate them.

No problem. Stealing and stalking are not anywhere near the same except they are both wrong. Very wrong. I don't know which is worse. I suppose it depends on the degree and how much a person or persons are hurt by the misbehaior done by the guilty party.

There is a huge difference in stealing the ink pen down at the bank when writing out a deposit and stealing someone's total way of living puting them in danger of losing their own lives.

Stalking is the same. It is one thing to be obsessed with the picture of someone and to mentally be thinking of them to the point of harming yourself or setting up a surveilance of someone's property watching their every move.

It is the degree of the wrong doing more then which wrong doing that has been done.

Lol, Pecker, you crack me up. You'll be okay as long as you don't lie about how many items you've got, or try to follow me home afterwards!

Yeah, and with these "super savings centers", express lanes may soon be a thing of the past. After all, look at the type of sales they do now and . . . Ooh! Look! 500 bags of ramen for $80! That saves me $20!

Something just creeps me out about shopping for groceries in a place that looks like an airplane hangar. Despite higher prices, I more often shop at the local mom-and-pop down the street. It's actually a middle-eastern grocery so I get cooler food and I don't have to listen to screaming babies or wait in ungodly lines. I get to play with odd trinkets and try delicasies from around the world. Oh, and they do sell ramen noodles!

For the young'uns on the board, the moral of this tale is to ask to see the guy's face (not just his dick) before you agree to meet someone -- and never take someone who is obviously lying back to your house.

I, too, take cyber-stalking seriously.

Kazon: You have to experience it, not to make light of it!

My hats off to all you guys who experienced stalking in all it's many forms. It has happened to me on 4 occassions, 2 very serious. The worst involved law enforcrment, when this kat was somehow able to find out what I did for a living and poised as a potential client appearing in my office :ninja:

NelsonMuntz84: Just shows how niave I am at times, I've never really thought about it on here because everyone I've spoke with has been really nice.

I just hope no one thinks I've bothered them, saying that I know I've never threatened or stalked anyone.

Its pretty crappy people on here need to put up with this, and I think its a valuable thread in getting people's thoughts and concerns out there, so they can be addressed. No one should have to put up with it.

Nelson, I'm very glad you posted what you did, of course I doubt seriously you have ever bothered anyone! My one concern in this thread was that we not scare each other off from communications with each other.

In my view, attention becomes unwelcome after it is clearly stated that it is! If you're chatting and someone says "I have to go now", then you let them. If you're emailing and someone breaks communications, let them go. BUT if someone posts publicly dozens of times that they no longer want anything to do with you, that should really remove all doubt. This should be very obvious to any but the very mentally sick, and when it continues even beyond that point, it is stalking.

I think the obvious pain-in-the-asses should be banned, but only after given a chance or a warning (just to make sure that they are indeed jerks that don't have anything to add). And it seems that some have been given more than enough of a chance and continue to be unnecessary asses.

Jana -- I agree about local stores. You should also try a farmer's market. (Or, if your landlord allows, set up a small greenhouse on the roof of your apartment complex.) I'm lucky; California has a Mediterranean climate, so we can get things grown locally.

As a rule, I support local businesses because:

1) I know the people who work there. You'd be surprised how many times registers at Wal-Mart have cheated me.
2) With the current merger-friendly government, soon there will be one corporation running everything. That has to be stopped.
3) Large-scale businesses damage the environment. All that shipping, when there are local industries right here. Also, I've seen one large-scale business move into a lot, build the store, and go belly-up; and another one move in, bulldoze the old building, and build their own. Totally inefficient.

Well. being that I'm a small business myself, I have always supported local businesses wherever possible. Besides avioding the headaches, I know the people I'm giving my money to and it makes me happy. My grandfather and uncle had a farm and sold fresh produce, even had a store where I worked at through college. I always shop farmer's stands- no shortage of those in the midwest. During the winter there are a couple produce stores where I can get the essentials, but I sure do love asparagus in the summer! I hate giving my money to any corporate machine when I can avoid it.

BTW, thanks to the excellece of our fearless leader, Leo's got a new group to belong to, "banned".
