Some in the press are charging that Leon Panetta should not be appointed CIA director as he has no experience in intelligence. To which team Obama responded that he was a "consumer of intelligence" while he was Bill Clinton's chief of staff.

He also consumes Band-Aids, which would make him the ideal candidate for Chief of Surgery at Walter Reed Medical Center.

And now for his nude picture:

The CIA needs a fresh set of intelligent, not intelligence, eyeballs. They blew 9/11, they blew WMD in Iraq, they seemed to have been weak to incompetent on North Korea, etc., and that's just during this Bush presidency. Read Legacy of Ashes by Tim Weiner for the entire 60-year history of CIA incompetence.

I just looked up the list of directors of the CIA in Wikipedia. Of eighteen such directors, seven have had no previous experience in intelligence: John McCone, William Raborn, James Schlesinger, George H. W. Bush, Stansfield Turner, William Webster, and John Deutsch. The list includes ones who left under a cloud (Raborn, Schlesinger) as well as ones whose performance was highly regarded (McCone, Bush) -- much like the list of directors with previous experience in intelligence.
