Gotta pay for that tax cut somehow.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration, brushing aside tens of thousands of protest letters, gave final approval on Wednesday to a rule that will remove nearly 755,000 people from the federal food-stamp program by strictly enforcing federal work requirements.

The rule, which was proposed by the Department of Agriculture in February, would make states enforce work requirements for able-bodied adults without children that governors have routinely been allowed to waive, especially for areas in economic distress. The economy has improved under the Trump administration, the department argued, and assistance to unemployed, able-bodied adults was no longer necessary in a strong job market.

Hundreds of Thousands Are Losing Access to Food Stamps
The Department of Agriculture gave its final approval to the first of three rules that are ultimately expected to cut 3 million from the food stamp rolls.
Punish the poor. Subsidize the rich. Welcome to modern Cruel Christianity that tens of millions of alleged Christians flock to. Jesus wouldn't go near the Republican party with a hazmat suit on.

Oh yeah. Make $1600 per month. Rent is $1300. Utilities are $200.

A person can live on $100 a month of food (if they only eat Ramen noodles and peanut butter every day)

Meanwhile let's continue to give thousands to farmers and tax cuts to millionaires.

No no no... you get it wrong.

The wealthy people now have way more money, thanks to the tax cuts - and because of that they are able to donate even money to the poorest.

Food stamps are no longer needed. You get closer to Utopia.
Praise the Donald. :p:p:p

Heil Donald! Heil Donald!

*oh, got carried away a little bit - must be the German in me

The privilege of raiding your retirement fund to pay off your student debt. These cheap bastards want you to die in the gutter

So to be clear, Rand's plan is for people who likely have no savings because they are drowning in debt to use said non-existent savings to pay off their debt... Brilliant!

Further proof that so called 'libertarians' are the most useless, vile people on the planet.

And they know it. They're never honest about their intentions and the expected outcome of those intentions. It's packaged as "personal responsibility", "the nanny state" and "big government". Meanwhile they don't mind at all billionaires manipulating government into a rich guy nanny state. They just can't stand the poor(net worth less than 10 million) doing it.

I'd rather see the student loan program re-vamped so that the college / university eats the bill that cannot be repaid...

Student loan debt can't be discharged in bankruptcy. Having the college on the hook would incentivize them to keep the costs of education down.

So the Federal Government wants to stop providing aid to those who do not qualify for it? And what is wrong with enforcing the law? Fuck, New York State's Medicaid program is going broke and the State has no idea how to "fix" it. Benefits are being provided to those who don't qualify and have blown up the budget...

Worries grow over Medicaid overruns
New York faces its largest budget crisis in a decade. This is the reason why.

The thread topic is food not health care. Health care is an entirely different subject.

Different topics but the underlying problem with these programs busting their budgets is the same... Poor vetting of people applying for benefits.

What basis do you make the claim that food stamps are "busting their budgets"?

++As the federal government pays 100% of the benefits. The states pay 50% of administrative costs and the federal government pays the other 50%. The real budget busting activity are the Republican hardon for never ending tax cuts that create a sea of red ink not feeding the hungry.

Don't you wonder why all these aid programs bust their budget?

The underlying problem is the increasing poverty and lack of funding due to less taxation of the wealthy.

You are absolutely correct that shit ain't free. No doubt about that. When it comes to the money that goes to these programs to make sure they're there for the people who need them...it comes out of the pockets of the people who need them.

See, when people talk about those who are on those programs they always forget to talk about when those people got to be on those programs and why. For a lot of those people they were working before needing that assistance. Which means they paid into the system they're taking from. And in general are out of work because of the same type of thinking that wants to now kick them off of receiving benefits they've paid for.

It's very easy to paint them as never having worked a day in their lives but that's not true at all. It's like when an insurance company doesn't want to pay out what a person has paid in when said person needs help.

Oh and they do qualify for it. The new regulations would define them as not qualifying for it. Big difference.
