Levon passed away today it seems...and as a fan of great music I have really been sitting here listening to just how awesome he (and of course The Band) was. I hate days like this because in my limited scope and scale of great stuff...it is kind of another day where the music died. I took a lot of hell being in high school and listening to Songs from Big Pink (not a CD a guy would carry around the hockey centric western Canadian rural school I went to anyway). I have always adored that kind of craftsman music and loose jam kind of rock/funk/folk style. I liked his songs best maybe because his voice was rough...but his notes were attainable in my car. I am spending the night listening to excellence :)

The backbone of The Band has died...long live The Band.
