I don't follow Niall closely but I'll have a look. Taylor Swift handed Harry his career so it makes sense why he's the "famous" one. She's an anomaly in today's industry and anyone who has ever been associated with her benefits from it. His manager is one of the industry's most influential people and has been able to use his position to put him in front of people and locals just go with it. As you said, when I went to his MSG show most of the audience who weren't teenage girls didn't know a thing and were there because of the hype or highly discounted tickets (mine cost $22 for good seats from a reseller.) The others are having to do everything without the benefit of being made a household name. Liam had Quavo and that's why his first single did so well. Everything after that except for the 50 Shades of Gray soundtrack song has flopped by some standards. He has good streaming numbers though because he makes music people who stream listen to (trap heavy pop and follows fads). Once Liam lost his visibility he stopped doing numbers. Zayn had the advantage of getting press for being the first one to leave One Direction. Now he gets no press and his last album didn't even crack the Top 50. Louis is the same way. Niall's next album will be too. Once people lose interest in Harry he will suffer the same fate.
So what Liam's experiencing is just a side effect of being in an industry that is rapidly evolving to the point where is managers aren't keeping up. They're making him do festivals only instead of tour on his own for crying out loud. He should hire new people once his contract expires.
I disagree on the Quavo thing because he actually promoted that single and Quavo didn’t add anything. Didn’t join in any of the promo. People who listen to rap don’t check for him..
Liam team doesn’t know how to work everything is lackluster and I can give you an example of that . if when harry dropped his album he had 3 songs on the biggest Spotify playlist and he was plastered everywhere and did shows etc. It’s known in order to get spotify numbers you need to be on big streaming playlists. Zayn does 0 promo, so that’s why his album does poor. The only house hold name is Harry and even though I’m not a fan of him I can admit that, but he’s always doing promoting and concepts and actually has a proper album rollout.
It’s weird how everyone compares the 1D boys albums when they’re in different scenarios but if we look at the single sales Liam and Zayn Have the most known songs.
I believe with the right rollout and promo, not releasing a song in the night on a Wednesday, live performance & good music video on release of song, being on the cover big playlists and immediately impacting radio does well for a song.
his album may not be selling but he is getting his money from other sources like festivals/ Hugo boss. Brand Ambassador paying a lot more, he gets to perform in places worldwide and do fashion
