An acknowledgement that the Republican Party blatantly caters to the wealthy (individuals and corporations)?

Oh, I think the implication is that is you're not on welfare, or an impoverished senior, or an idealistic, misled student, or a factory worker in a Commie-led union, ie: if you're got two nickels to rub together (or to invest), anyone with a brain would be a Republican.

That's funny. If that were the case "conservative" would be a descriptive adjective for "closeted homosexual bigot".
That's how it's generally treated on LPSG.

I've never known people to be ashamed of being termed a liberal in recent years. It's a very popular, socially-acceptable thing to be.

Thing is Lincoln was a Republican. So things change.
Personally, I believe the word "progressive" sounds better than the word "liberal."
The word "conservative" in my mind means keeping things the way they are which seems untenable. I wish there was a "common sense" party, but that sounds boring so it would never be popular.

I like the phrase, wrongly attributed to Churchill, "If you're not Liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not Conservative when you're 35, you have no brain." Like everything else in my life, I am bass akward on this remark, as I was a hard core conservative in my youth and have drifted left in my years.

Maybe it is because I came of age during Reagan's 'Morning in America' and watched can do hard work self-reliance philosophy morph into a repulsive 'as long as I get mine' cynicism.

Me too, q vee !! It is on the back of my honda fit. Liberal is a word of pride and accomplishment ( health care reform, the end of the iraq war, the end of bin laden, etc).
Sorry ass conservatives take note. Your accomplishments are missing in action this century.

My mom had Conservative ideals. But she grew up at a time where she felt good about those IDEALS (even when those ideals oppressed her as a woman...and as a mixed race black woman). I love being liberal. I may not like what other Americans do or believe...but I want their rights and wishes to have a voice. I don't want trespasses over my liberties as well.

When you look at people as people...and not their parties...I think that we all want a right to live...love...work...to have things...to be healthy... Who doesn't? We as Americans seem to have lost that basic understanding. This is why we have imbalances in our system.

I wish there were no "liberal" and "conservative" labels. I'm conservative about some things and liberal about others. I wouldn't consider myself a solider for either side really.

Is that a "call to arms" or a command? Either way works for me.

I always resented that, in the US, during the Reagan era, the Reputation ligament got to define the term "Liberal" and the Democrats let them get away with it. Such that, even today the Democratic party runs from the label.

I'm sorry but the attitude today is give it to me I shouldn't have to work for it. See the "man says so because of history and the past".

I hate labels but we as humans can't live without them.

I'm none of the above. Although I would stand behind the slogan " Just shoot'um all".
