Someone I know passed away today. He was an older gentleman, very respectful. Known him about 15 years.

Over the months I've seen him withering away. He was always so calm, so patient. I cry for him today.

I know life is hard to appreciate sometimes... But I try to every breath I take. We don't know how long we have.

You all take care.

So sorry to hear this, you take care and enjoy each day you have to the fullest. We all should do the best we can to take care of our selves so we can live a long and rewarding life. Those of us that are older don't dwell on the thought of passing from this life, but if we become unwell, after a point we can rejoice in the thought that we will when we pass will not feel the pain and other maladies that come with age. As you say we don't know how long we have but we should live life as well as we can day by day.

'he thinks of death every day'
understandable/believeable
dont think thats morbidity more like reality,an appreciation of/for a life

It must be the season for such things. I lost a sibling I'd never met, and a former coworker I'd known for 15+ years, both to aggressive cancers that were diagnosed about a month before their deaths.

Take nothing and no one for granted, for tomorrow is not guaranteed.

I so often think of how much time I waste procrastinating...............then I think back to my Dad who accomplished so much in his life in those years raising a family of 5.

Spending time with his Birds, his racing pigeons and Gouldian finches.............

Procrastination is relaxation. Whether it be waiting for pigeons to find their way home, spending hours looking toward the sky.... zoning out is good, as long s it does not become an addiction.

I think sometimes he loved the birds more than his kids................:) As I grow old myself, I realise he never ever let us kids down. Ever. He was always there.
