Sadly, for the integrity of the system of government in USA, most Republican representatives and senators are prepared to wilfully disregard their oath of office. Surely this as basic a repudiation of the constitution as it is possible for an elected official to carry out? To my mind, this makes them self-confessed criminals - and their brazenness is disgraceful but, more importantly, is a dangerous precedent but not unexpected with the misrule of this dangerous president.

Accordingly, it appears that traitor Trump will be allowed to get away with his crimes while in office. Just like Al Capone was never held accountable before the law for his many serious crimes.

While the political battle plays out, however, prosecutors are building a serious case against Trump (laziest president ever) for the corrupt manner in which he has built his business. The corrupt GOP may save his fat ass for the time being, but it looks inevitable that Trump and his sons will go down for their gangster business practices.

And let's hope that the dreadful political legacy left by Trump and the Republican party will not do everlasting damage to the system of politics (seriously flawed though it undoubtedly is) in USA.

The only point I disagree with you is “Trump and his sons will go down...”

Ivanka is the most likely one, then Uday and Qusay. Don’t leave her out of this!

Doubt it. He doesn't have to turn his tax returns over. The only one he has to file with is the IRS and they haven't found any problems.

It sounds like you think that many people wouldn't go down with Trump if he went down for tax evasion, that includes the Clintons, Obama, Bush, any number of high ranking officials. You know all these people use the same tax havens around the world.

We both know if something actually was wrong in it, it would leak with a whistleblower. Since Obama did weaponize it against tea party members

It's more than simply a question of his tax returns. We know that trump works a system of double accounting. Profitability and tenancy levels are massaged upwards for banks and investors, while much lower figures are declared for tax purposes. Call it mortgage fraud, tax fraud, racketeering or whatever you like, but it's financial crime on a grand scale. Not to mention having the mafia and Putin's oligarchs finance his projects - money laundering. With several huge bankruptcies behind him, which have taken down many hard working American contractors and sub-contractors, Trump's self-proclaimed business acumen is bullshit. He is a con man, a grifter, nothing better than that.

With his past threatening to catch up with him, why else is this criminal trying so hard to replace prosecutors, particularly at the southern district of NYC?

The saddest and most infuriating part is that if he and they (republicans in general) had any presence of mind to stop or even slow down their constant flow of fuckery. There's a very good chance they could have gotten away with most of what they've already done. Like at the point he tried to ban muslims from the country. Had he and republicans stopped to take a breath there odds are very good he and others wouldn't go down for tax stuff.

That would tend to suggest that the work of the prosecutors and their investigators is politically driven. I know that DA's must be elected and to that extent it could be argued that they are quasi politicians, but once in office they must be seen to apply the law impartially.

The tax authorities would only have seen his depressed profit figures (which is why he does not want people to see just how little tax he pays and therefore how unsuccessful a businessman he really is) and they would not have seen Trump's enhanced figures for obtaining finance. By putting the two together, they have the ammunition to nail him. Trump has made a ton of enemies in business and has replicated that in politics, so it is no surprise that information on his activities has been passed to the authorities, now that he has half the country longing for his downfall.

And of course you have proof of this? Plus proof of an incompetent IRS?

As far as i can tell up until about last year it was politically driven. The way i see it, which could very well be wrong, is that a number of people in positions of power disagreed with trump and republicans in office on a lot of things. But didn't want to interfere in the doings of a president for fear of backlash.

Remember how quickly hillary clinton was investigated? Now, do you remember how long it took for any investigation of trump to even start? My guessis the intelligence community (fbi, cia, nsa and so on) hesitated to do anything about trump for fear that americans would turn on them. Not because trump is on the right but because he won.

And when it comes to those in positions of power down the ladder it's a bit different. From what i've seen of america we've generally tried to lean to the left from inside the right. With many people in positions of power being firmly in the right's way of thinking. I don't think the laws matters in that context nearly as much as it should. The evidence of that is how courts have been ruling on religious people wanting the ability to discriminate against others. With a certain good amount going against that grain while some going with it.

I mean.

The IRS Admits It Doesn't Audit the Rich Because It's Too Hard

(The Internal Revenue Service is in a bind. The agency's job is to collect the taxes that fund everything else in the government, from Social Security to the Post Office to Medicaid to the military's endless conflicts across the globe. But the IRS is struggling: According to Vox, Americans owe a cumulative $131 billion in unpaid taxes, enough to completely fund the Department of Education for two years. The bulk of that money is owed by the wealthiest people in the country, yet the IRS isn't attempting to collect it from them. Instead, as IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig confirmed in a letter to Congress recently, the agency literally can't afford to audit the rich, so it's pursuing the poor instead.)

They may have had and still do have enough to nail him but with the irs doing this, trump putting all sorts of thugs in office. Well, there's a difference between can and will. Though i was talking about before he made enemies out of everyone.

yeah it took them awhile to fabricate a conspiracy about Donald Trump.

You just linked an article from the GQ website..about a government organization. Do I really need to listen to anything you say after that?

ProPublica obtained the proof using an FOI request.

I don't need to provide proof of an incompetent IRS - that is your assessment.
But the whole point of alternative financial declarations is concealment, dontcha know.
Bureaucratic incompetence? Surely not, never been known.
Underfunded/resourced IRS? Unbelievable.

Trump will be pardoned by the next president, democrat or republican, in an effort to turn a page on this disgustingly dark period of lies and deception. Trump can then be in self exile at one of his golf courses while his name is chipped off of buildings around the world.

Alternate realities; this is why there's no point in even having this discussion. Can we at least agree on that?

Oh we can agree on that. The only truth here is that nothing will come of it and Trump will be reelected due to him keeping his campaign promises and the lack of quality democrat candidates.. Everything after that is open to interpretation

Exactly. We can agree you have a magic, infallible crystal ball and I don't. You have me at a disadvantage.
