I have noticed that many of the men that migrated here from Eastern Europe in the last 15 years seem to be all about settling down with a wife and kids in their 20's. Whereas many American men think they are too young to marry at 30.

Who the heck is getting married at 16 these days?:confused: I get your point but in the US that is no longer common. I obviously can't speak for the rest of the world; but in the US we seem to have created an oddly immature generation. Both the males and females are often very intelligent; can function in the workplace, but because of their 'helicopter moms' they are at a loss for how to do many things for themselves. Making an actual decision w/o first calling mom is out of the question.

You have my vote!

Where I grew up it is not all that uncommon to get married at age 16. One of my cousins did, and I know at least 3 other women from there who did. Of the girls in my class in elementary school (I can't count high school because it was a much larger class), all but 3 of us were married by the time we were 19. The only 3 who didn't marry by age 19 were the two tomboys and the agoraphobic. (I was one of the tomboys). And of those 3, at age 44 none of us has EVER been married.

No way! Get outta here! No offense but I find that totally freaky. I guess that's cause you are in the south.

Things like that did not happen in NJ, Philadelphia, PA or New York City. I know of only one couple that got married the summer after we graduated high school (1984) they were still together at our ten year reunion. I didn't go to my 20th so I have no idea if they are still together.

Hey, I found it freaky too! This wasn't really in the south either, unless you consider rural southern Indiana to be the south.

I do think this happens a lot more in rural areas than in cities. And most of the marriages didn't last, either. I haven't kept up with most of them though. I always thought more like a city person than a rural person, even though I grew up in a rural area.
