Been curious all my life......on the back side of my penis, there is a line that runs from the head, down to my scrotum. It almost appears as if I had surgery, but I've never known that to be true. Is this a common thing?
My parents are deceased, so can't ask them and was too embarrassed to ask when they were alive.

Every man (and also every woman) has this line; it forms the interface between the embryonic genital folds. The supposed scar, which is also called raphe, forms during the development of the genitals in the embryo as a line of fusion of the two urogenital folds. How strong this line is later visible is different for every man. It begins at the foreskin ribbon, also known as the frenulum, then continues over the underside of the penis to the scrotum, where it extends as a scrotum suture to the anus. Towards the front, it continues on the foreskin ligament and on the foreskin as a foreskin seam.:)

Great explanation about something many of us have probably been curious about at one time or another. Yes, it is worth checking out for oneself!

Excellent answer!

Yes, actually both men and women have them -- but on men they continue from the perenium up the scrotum and to the frenulum.
