Hi Guys, which places in Melbourne have sauna or steam room that are men only? I prefer to be naked. I'm inner East but can and will travel for a good sauna.
A few fitness firsts have them but even still nudity is not allowed. They require swimwear to be worn.

grand Hyatt gym is pretty good as I haven’t seen a sign like that so nudity is fine

I meant if Australians are pruder than the rest of the world, in Asia and Europe it's not big deal. But I arrived in Australia recently and never saw a gym with gang shower.
Can an aussie clarify that? Must at least have one in the country right?

I think Aussies will tend to be more open to and comfortable with male body hair

they also do gang showers on beaches and at pools or streams in the outback

Just not very much in the gym

I think it's Americans who tend to be too nude or are more prude even homophobic when it comes to showers and swim wear or under wear

Most men in US think briefs and thongs are either "tighties" or "bikini bottoms" meant only for ladies and babies

On the other hand the woke fashionistas of US are marketing G strings as "thongs"

Thongs are supposed to have a strip or flap to cover bum crack unlike the G string. Which is just a "string".

Eg: Men in thongs

Thanks to the G string marketed "thongs". It hasn't caught on among mainstream men around the world.

Probably because the string may be "too gay" and they may get embarrassed or bullied for it and they don't want to cross dress or look like a feminine stripper in a g string

Without US prudes or fashionistas setting the norms. Thongs would probably be just as popular or heteronormative as
Boxer briefs or boxer shorts: We would get to peek at more chubby or muscly bums without nudity. But alas! You get hypermasculine "boxers" thrown on your face most of the time.

It might've been mentioned already but Grand Hyatt have both in the men's changerooms - it's $25 casual entry if you're not a member, or free if you're staying at the hotel I believe. Can be quite liberating as most guys take their towels off or loosen them in there.

Do you need a pass/to go through reception to get there ? Is that the gym level with the open gang showers ?

How do you get to the upper level ?
The gang showers are on the same level as the gym (the upper level) also the level of the main entrance to reception.

but it is a general university building with people coming and going and not always going through reception which simply allows access to the actual gym and pool (downstairs)

so it’s possible just to walk straight past reception towards the end of the long corridor and turn left and the change room is on the left of that second corridor

another way is down the stairs from the Building L on higher levels. This has no reception and is just a climb down stairs to the lowers floor - go through the doors and the change rooms are almost straight ahead down a short corridor on the left. That is the stairs deliver you to the end of the long corridor that starts at reception

reception don’t need to see you.

hope that helps
