Ditto ditto ditto... There will be stares until the regulars get used to it. My gym has a cover-up mentality bordering on hysteria. Very few walk around totally nekkid. I cover up discretely but usually just conveniently have a towel in hand in front. If I happen to be seen for a moment or so, so be it. Wish it were different but I am there for the workout and a long sauna.
I live in the DFW area in Texas. I am a member at LA Fitness. There are a lot of locations all over the metroplex. It seems that at every location I go to, it seems that most guys go out of there way to quickly cover up the goods. I cover up when walking to the shower and back, but am not afraid to strip down after a workout. I do not usually walk around naked in the locker room, but will stand there naked while I put my workout clothes away and get all the stuff for the shower (shampoo, etc).
In the sauna, there is hardly ever any naked men in there.. usually just guys still in there workout clothes.. or those of us in a towel. I get guys staring at my bulge in my towel sometimes, but that is going to happen.

Also, something that seems to not be the case is that there are not many guys wearing briefs these days.. mainly boxer briefs. I like the way my bulge looks in briefs, so I usually wear briefs.. plus I do not like boxer briefs riding up in the legs.
Something about seeing other guys bulges (discretely as possible) in the locker room is a big turn on.

I wear my towel to step out of the shower and then i pull it off and air dry.

walk around naked, who cares. its a locker room, it's their purpose to change, shower and whatever else you need to do. i get stares and looks when im naked, but i think i get more when im wearing my jockstrap to go to the urinal, grab a towel or walk to the shower and hang it on the hook...but then again, i am 19 and not many guys my age wear jocks, or even use the shower/LR. :S

You can do searches about stuff like this. I believe "buck naked" was the original term, which evolved into "Butt naked" because of sound similarity and the "logic" of the term.
No not many 19 year olds wear jocks, and that's a crime. I applaud you for wearing your jock to take a piss.
And I say walk fuckin naked in the locker room all the time! That's what men should do.
