It looks like a Japanese fundoshi (sp?). I've never tried one, but have seen such "exotic" undergarments on a few online stores.

Despite it being a wrap, how is the feeling different from wearing briefs?

When i was a teen i used to fantasize about wearing a loincloth... and once wore it one homemade from a piece of sheet

The model you show appears to be quite bulky around the waist.

In my own mind a loincloth is a bit of cloth to cover your penis attached to a waist band which should be quite narrow. Nothing in back. But a review of loin cloth images on a google search indicates otherwise.

Maybe the modern loincloth is nothing more than a thong!!!
