Actually from reading reviews it does seem there are indeed some women going, I'd be fine if it was mainly men, just as long as there were some women!

Naked Hands Spa is generally quite wholesome. Very small, and fairly quiet - a sauna room for 4/5 and a darker steam room for 5 at a squeeze. Also a tiny room with some exercise gear and two massage rooms (best to book in advance). And a TV lounge where you can get snacks and soft drinks.
Mostly men go there, or occasional couples, and there's an older woman and younger woman on staff who sometimes sit in the sauna. It's naked throughout.
I quite enjoy it as you just never know who you'll meet/what might happen, and it's mostly quite friendly.
There's been some visits where nothing's happened, and a few where some open wanking and sucking has started up, mostly surreptitious one-on-one, but a couple of times threesomes.
It's definitely not a gay hangout, so I think when stuff happens it's more curious interest and opportunity than cruising.
The massages are afaik completely wholesome, although the receiver is obviously naked, so I've generally developed a bit of a boner when I've had them.
Rio's is a lot of desperate men waiting for a woman to turn up, with a few gays taking advantage of that scenario, and a few curious playing around. Very hit and miss. Play in the saunas/steam is surreptitious and frowned on, but the private rooms are there for hooking up.

Haven't been to Naked Hands since it was called Elixir - is it still worth a punt for a bit of nudism? I remember it being quite small and dated and not too cheap, so despite it being friendly and wholesome as you say, I never went back. What's it like these days? Similar deal then?

It's the thing that sort of puts me off - perfectly fine for what it is, but I usually just end up thinking how much more you get at Rio's for not much more money.

Well yes it's pretty small.

A front room with a soft drinks/snack bar and TV, two private massage rooms (for booked massages), a tiny gym equipment room, then at the end of the corridor where there are lockers, there's a single curtained shower (well, big enough for two people each easily - so feasible for a short more private hook-up) and then a cold bucket space, a 2/3 person jacuzzi which hasn't worked for more than a year (though we're promised it'll be fixed soon), a dry sauna room for maybe 5/6 people at a squeeze, and a wet steam room for 4 or 5, along with another curtained shower.
But it is still £20 a visit, so a lot cheaper than Rio's, and massages are reasonably priced, especially as they take the £20 entrance off if you book one.
Definitely not a guaranteed hook-up place, but, you know, when folk are naked these things can happen

Sounds exactly like I remember it then, except it didn't use to have gym equipment back when it was Elixir. Might check the massage pricing and consider treating myself to one, especially since I'm picking a fitness routine back up with the start of the new year - do you know if the masseuse/masseurs are any good?

I wouldn't be looking for hook ups, rather just a place for (shared) nudity, so that's not an issue for me and actually, a bit argument to favour Naked Hands over Rio's as all the stories I've heard about it are that it's 100% a sex/swingers place and not at all a nudist spa.

It's a shame these places are all small. Makes you want to check out Pleasuredrome instead as at least there is more space but maybe intimidating what's going around you.
