I have to ask why you singled out white people not lowering themselves to do these jobs that the illegals do. I haven't noticed black people or any other race breaking their necks to take these jobs either. I do know for fact that people will take these low paying shitty jobs when they are available such is the case here in my home state. The INS raided a poultry processing plant and rounded up 300 illegals. There was a line the next day people wanting these jobs, some had been trying to get hired there for a long time so don't sit on your high horse and say "white people" want lower themselves to do these jobs.

Ever hear the phrase, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar? If you wanted to give them all the boot, how the hell do you do it? You can however, bring them under control by enticing them. But let's review the situation.

Problem: Illegal immigrants in the United States which are a burden on our economy. They take part in tax-dollar funded programs which are intended for people here legally, and don't pay taxes in order to support said programs. They also deprive legal American residents of jobs.

In order to address the problem, you have to address one of the above problems.

Solution #1: Deny access to all tax-dollar funded programs to illegals. Can't be done. Some things, like emergency medical care, are given to anyone who is in need of it, no questions asked. There's also the matter of some services, legal representation for instance, are guaranteed by the Constitution to anyone within our borders, not just those here legally.

Solution #2: Keep illegal immigrants from getting jobs. Possible, but not feasible. Illegal immigrants in employment are not reported, and are therefore hard to track down. It requires a lot of resources to find them, and as the status quo exists, the US Border Patrol is insufficient to keep them from hopping the fence again.

Solution #3: Make the illegals pay taxes. How do you do this? Their residence needs to be legitimized in order to keep track of them an their wages. Make them legal, and any wages they make are garnished due to taxes in order to get more money for the programs which benefit them anyway. Both possible and feasible, and fixes most of the problems of them being here in the first place.

I even identify as a Republican on most issues, I'm just a pragmatist. Obama has the right idea, and has been said, this was even an initiative supported by Bush. This isn't a "Liberal" agenda. It's a legitimate solution to a growing problem. You may "just want them all out", in the same way a cancer patient just wants his tumor to go away, but it's NOT that simple.

BTW, since so many people are convinced that this is a liberal agenda, I should probably let you all know that the only reason we have immigration laws at all is because they were an initiative lobbied for by the leader of the Ku Klux Klan. Have a nice day. :smile:

2) There will be something to stop it if Obama refuses to sign the bill because of that provision. They're having a hard enough time getting a majority compromise, I seriously doubt Congress can overturn a veto.
