This is a bit of a long story so bear with me, there's a TL;DR summary at the bottom

About 3 years ago I noticed my erect penis seemed slightly smaller and I was having trouble getting erections. I went to the doc and they prescribed viagra and suggested it was probably due to the stress of starting a new job. After a few months I got settled in and the issue went away and I was fine.

About 6 months ago I went through a period where I had a large drop in libido and fewer erections due to a medical issue. My penis was also much more shrunken and hard while flaccid and I no longer got random erections during the day and did not masturbate more than once every 2 -3 weeks. I also suspect I did not get any nocturnal erections either and did not experience any wet dreams despite not masturbating.

After the issue was resolved 2 months ago I noticed my erections were about 0.5 inch shorter. The GP suggested it was due to poor cardiovascular health and prescribed viagra but it simply resulted in harder but still half an inch shorter erections. My flaccid penis is also less stretchy and can no longer be stretched out to my previous erect length, only the new shorter one.

I've gone back to the GP and they told me that penises can't shrink and suggested it might be in my head but there's a lot of stuff on the internet about how reduced blood flow can cause the erectile tissue to die off and the erections to shrink and I think this is what has happened during the period of low libido and no erections.

I don't know what to do, I've been told it would be months to wait to see a consultant on the NHS and I can't afford to shop around private consultants.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue and what did you do?

TL;DR summary: penis shrunk and doctor won't believe me. What do I do now?

If curved could be peyronies ,but doc likely to catch that.I would have a full hormone panel sounds like you may need TRT.Good luck.

Fact is if you don’t have regular erections your penis will ‘shrink’. In no way is this permanent same as the opposite. You will always have the same penile tissue but it’s like any muscle, regular exercise makes them bigger and more healthy.

The penis is not a muscle, and reduced blood flow to the tissues will result in them dying off and the penis shrinking as I've experienced.

I simply want to know if there's some way to re-gain the lost length or at least convince my doctor I'm not crazy,

Thanks, I doubt it's peyronies either, but I'll request a full hormone panel.
If youve got the money going private ,is the way to go.The NHS doesnt take TRT seriously you could be waiting 18 months just to see a specialist, then it takes months to dial in your correct dose.Check Bodybuilding forums they usually have a TRT section. All the best.

Your penis isn't going to shrink. Your lower belly fat may increase, pushing down on the penis skin, making appear shorter. Your symptoms are classic for low testosterone. I have no idea of what your options are in the UK with national health and severely rationed care, but a GP can order basic blood work to find out, if he or she is so inclined, and a urology consultation would certainly be in order! Best of luck to you. (Worst case scenario, if you are willing, is to fly over to the States, enjoy a relatively inexpensive holiday, make an appointment with a urologist here before you leave home, and pay with a credit card. It might not be "free", but you will get top notch care, you won't have to wait 10 years for an appointment, and you probably won't have to re-mortgage your home either. Think about it)

Thanks I'll look into it. I've discovered testosterone tests are notoriously unreliable where the same person can get 3 different results from 3 different tests and there's a problem with the NHS guidelines where everyone is lumped together so guys in their 20s with low test are told they''re in the normal range because the "normal" range covers 50 year old guys.

I'm going to the GP tomorrow to give blood samples for the test, but I think I'll take the results and go to a private specialist with them and see what happens then.

This is pretty much what my GP said, except the part about low T. I haven't gained any weight and my penis measurements are bone-pressed so body fat makes 0 difference anyway.

There are known examples of people's penis shrinking with low T, it's usually seen in trans individuals undergoing HRT but can happen to men with low T as well. Thankfully it's reversible with the penis regrowing to it's normal size once T levels are back to normal.

You might want to start using a vacuum pump on a regular basis. I know Urologists recommend it to patients who are going to have a penile implant. Going a long time without an erection is not good.
