I think is sort of pertinent to differentiate between those virgins that have some sexual experience, even kissing, (in this case a virgin would be someone who hasn't partaken in penetration) and those who don't have any experience at all. You are exactly right. Some virgins say they talk with girls, go on dates, even kiss and make out, but never get to intercourse. But the other type just feels awkward around girls, has a hard time getting dates or sending the right signals. Some of these are not virgins but still struggle when meeting and interacting with new women. And these latter ones probably can eventually get to intercourse once they get to the point of kissing a girl and feeling comfortable around her.

For some reason girls (at least the ones I know) tend to get sort of turned off if they find out you're a virgin, like they don't want to just randomly take it.

Too bad they don't follow that thought pattern further and realize "Oh, SOMEONE is going to take it eventually." Which means there shouldn't be a problem taking someone's virginity. It's not like they are actively searching for virgins. Sometimes I wonder if short sightedness is a reason I'm still a virgin, or have never had a real relationship.

However I do happen to be in the boat of guys who are online a lot. Frankly there isn't much to do here, I have no income (I'm looking for a job), so going out is hard. Then there is the fact that pretty much ALL of the women I meet are usually have, uh, a repelling personality to me. Any of them I happen to like show no interest in me. "Just asking", directly, of them to take your virginity is probably not the soundest bet.
