I can't get my brakes fixed until Monday. It's raining, and I don't wanna drive around on bad brakes. Otherwise, I know where to get some good doughnuts around here at this hour. It's that time of the month. I'm kinda glad I'm forced to behave.

Well, I just made a run to the local grocery. Cost me $134, but I figured, while I'm out... Ok doughnuts, at least they're freshly made . But now I'm stocked up on bananas, strawberries, blueberries and oranges for the next few days too. I go through fruit like a zoo animal.

I gotta try to get some groceries delivered in the morning. I have enough food to make half of any given meal. The original plan was to go out for steak and eggs in the morning, and then go shopping. Oh well. Now I kinda want jelly doughnuts AND strawberries. A girl can dream.

Oh, I'm not driving that thing until it's time to drive to the shop in Monday for the repairs. They wanted to keep the cat all weekend and see if they could get to it before Monday, but I'd prefer to have the car in case Grandma has an emergency. I hope my bill doesn't come anywhere near yours! I probably need to do one caliper, one rotor, and all the brake pads. I wish a new brakes light would come on instead of the first clue being that horrible grinding noise that started Thursday.

Anyway, doughnuts was just hormones and the power of suggestion. I'm over it. It's not cheat day. No doughnuts allowed.

Try these next time you feel like a doughnut:

Pancakes!

1 cup (not an American cup measurement, more like a mug). Try again...
1 mug of gluten free self-raising flour
1 mug of apple juice
1 egg
1 banana
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence, preferably the homemade stuff.

Fry them in raw coconut oil

Eat them and feel happy. There are endless variations to this gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free recipe, this is just what I happened to have yesterday. I can honestly say that I never have doughnut cravings though.

She's off to a good start with healthy choices and an eager assistant, but she'd get better results (as an apparent lefty) by tucking in the fingers and thumb on her right handand using those knuckles to guide the blade, and sliding her left hand a bit more forward on the knife to grasp the blade itself, just past the handle/tang, between her thumb and index finger. She should also hold the food she's planning to cut, and watch what she is doing. Sometimes assistants are distracting, though.

I don't eat grains unless it is cheat day. That includes both pancakes and doughnuts. I make pancakes out of something else entirely, and only very, very seldom as instead of being high in sugars they are too high in fats. When I do eat grains, I eat them whole, gluten included. It's just protein, not poison. I don't have any allergies nor celliac. When I have company for breakfast I make old fashioned pancakes from unbleached AP flour, baking soda, baking powder, egg, sugar, cinnamon, coconut or safflower oil, and a little raw cream of wheat. I serve it with butter and Aunt Jemima if they prefer fake syrup (which a surprising number of people do) or honey or grade C Maple syrup (my preference flavor wise) for those who would rather only eat food with food in it like I would.

To combat regular pancake cravings (which for me come up about as often as doughnut cravings) I eat seasonal fruit, workout, or sleep. To combat cravings for salty carbs, I eat cured meat or pork rinds, or workout, or sleep.
