I get 7 or more hours of sleep every night. I am up at 5 AM (Monday-Friday for the gym) and usually crash by about 9:30 or 10 PM.

I have never been able to function on little or no sleep.

The longer you go without adequate sleep, the more skilled you become at feigning a level of functioning. I, for example, proof-read most of my posts 3 times before submitting them, only to re-proof them a few minutes after submission and finding a bazillion spelling errors. This is not "functioning", but it appears to be!

How many people here are insomniacs? It turns out that the majority of people that I chat with regularly on here are.

Sorcerer
Alex8
Madame Zora
Me (yes, I talk to myself regularly  )

A few others, that I don't know if it's ok to mention, but now I'm curious about it.

Apparently no one seems to wonder how a guy can get 6000 posts in a few months... I dont' sleep much either, but Sorcerer is right. If there are good people on here, I am up later.

This thread holds some things in common with the mental illness thread, in that prolonged sleep deprivation can actually effect depression in otherwise healthy adjusted people. After it gets established (depression) it can be the tail chasing the dog when it comes to insomnia. Getting adequate sleep is a big part of the cure for depression when it comes to treating the physical causes. (as well as being organic and cheap)

I work weird and long hours and get sleepless to the point I'd say I qualify as an insomniac. (probably anxiety-related or the adrenaline buzz of too much caffeine during the day).

I honestly thought that I was the only one who did this. I type it in word first to catch the biggest spelling errors and then read it for grammar and then making sure that the words are the ones that fit (NOT fir, like I first typed.) Later I paste it, preview it, submit it and then edit it. It could well be a lack of sleep in my case as well.
I could sleep 12 hours a day. Regrettably, I can't get to sleep unless it is within 4 or 5 hours of the time I wake up. It does not matter which shift I work, or how many hours I work, sleep does not come. But if I do not need to wake up I can keep sleeping for for probably 12 hours. It just means 2 or 3 hours sleep the next night.

It may just be who's on when we're here. Thanks to differences in time zones, I get to talk to hunky Lex who is a total morning person.

Personally, I'm allergic to sunlight.

I hate sunlight... I'm irish so I'm pale, and if see the sun i either burst into flames(ouch) or melt into a puddle(i hafta use a sponge)

I am an insomniac, I just do other stuff with my time :p
