Hmm. It seems as though it's a bit harsh to Banninate her. Yes, he post was ill advised, and didn't go about it the proper way. Yes, her subsequent posts were quite irrational. Still does that warrant her being permanently banned?

I wonder if there was more going on behind the scenes. Her threats to get the police involved were really out there, as I can't see what police will do about something over the internet.

Just a shame, really.

What kind of complaint could she make to the police? I have never threatened her or even called her a name as far as I've found. Would she say, "This person on the internet disagreed with me about whether a background check is necessary if one already has a license to carry a handgun in NC and then she discussed the issue of bullying with other posters in a thread I created where she said I tend to over-react?"

I was sincere when I offered to apologize if I ever caused offense. I've made a lot of posts since I joined and I'm not infallible, so it's entirely possible that I just couldn't find a truly upsetting incident between us, but I suspect that the reason why she didn't post up links to any particular incident is because there isn't one, which means that she was just irrationally paranoid.

One thing that I've found is that those people who are law abiding gun owners, rarely brag about our guns. My guess is that she either has none and was trying to intimidate you, or is just mouthing off.

I just glanced at a number of posts in this thread, and while I think she was being excessive, I do understand her position.

Since "coming out" as a political conservative on this site the level of vitriol to which I have been exposed, primarily by a specific few, is excessive. Bullying is, essentially, the correct term. Repeat the party line, or suffer the consequences.

Extreme as she was, she did have a point.

Happily, I'm more than capable of handling it myself, at this stage...apparently I have a tougher skin.

On a related note, there was one person who acquitted herself, beautifully. Petite. She remained an an adult, in a sea of childishness. While we may not be on the same side, politically, she and I remained respectful to one another and managed to have an interesting discussion...no small feat!

Oh and since I'm sure CuriousMe is reading this, let me tell you that Petite doesn't have her private messages disabled. She has maxed out on her ability to receive or send them. You probably aren't aware of this, but when you've reached the max capacity in your inbox, you can't send messages until you clear out space. So she isn't able to SEND or RECEIVE messages.

Don't flatter yourself into thinking she has them disabled from you personally or she can send out mass amounts of private messages without being able to receive them. It doesn't work that way.
