Although Santorum is the furthest from me politically, there's something about Romney's personality that really bothers me. Santorum at least seems very sincere. This is more about who I'd want to have a beer with than who I'd end up voting for, but I have a little bit of schadenfreude for Romney. He's not horrible on paper, but he seems to lack some...humanity skills.

Paul seems like a decent dude. Newt, not so much.

Since the thread title and the poll pose two entirely distinct questions, I will answer them separately.

Which Republican candidate do I dislike the most? --Santorum.

Which Republican candidate do I least want to see win the nomination? --Romney.

I truly hate/respect how observant you are...My brain fart. For the record, the second question is the one I wanted answered

First, Ron Paul would never win the nomination. Second, I don't think the Republican party has a chance in hell of beating Obama.

First: I think you're right...For the GOP at least
Second: I think you're right...Although there is still quite alot of time left and still quite alot of PAC money left to be used to implicate opposing candidates of being communists, terrorists and/or cattle rapists...I think we are all in line for some very "intersting" TV commercials this election season

Santorum at least seems very sincere.

but I have a little bit of schadenfreude for Romney. He's not horrible on paper, but he seems to lack some...humanity skills.

1.) Honestly, that's what scares me about Santorum

2.) Mitt: "Johnny Five alive!!"..."Please insert Disc 2 to complete uploading/election process"...

Hard choice. Do I dislike strangulation more than drowning?

I dislike Romney the most. He would make the best President, or let's say, the least dangerous, but he is the most intellectually dishonest. The man will pander to the most extreme positions and does not have the courage of his convictions. He's a flip-flopper of the first degree. So much so that I don't know or even have an inkling of what he real positions may be. Was he lying for years and years about supporting a woman's right to abortion? Or is lying now about is position on that issue? Same goes for healthcare insurance reform and so on.

As odious as Santorum is and as deluded as Newt is, I at least expected more honesty from Romney. Therefore he is my least favourite.

He is definitely the last one I would want to have a beer with.

I intensely dislike Santorum, because without even knowing me, he has compared my LTRs to bestiality. On a very cynical note, I wish he'd just win and flame-out in the general election, causing the Teabaggers and other assorted reactionaries to sit at the back of the Republican bus (if not kicked out altogether, like John Birchers in the 60s were). But that's wishful thinking, not reality: the entrenched power elite of the GOP simply won't have it.

Instead, early on, they anointed Rmoney [sic], whom they believed would pass the smell test with enough Independents and cultural moderates to pull it off. Instead, we have a front-runner with zero charisma, and such a gaffe-prone, seizing-defeat-from-the-jaws-of-victory orientation that he might as well be a democrat

I chose Rmoney [sic] in the poll because, when he loses in November (and he will), it will incite the lunatic fringe of the extreme Republican base to claim (as they did in 2008) that the candidate simply wasn't "conservative" enough. A Rmoney [sic] wipe-out will doom the Republicans to at least eight more years in the wilderness, at which point they may finally disengage from the extremes to which they've (as a party) been reduced.

For the record, in case anyone forgot (or never read my political opinions before), I am a strict Independent: I simply cannot side with either party; I cannot be a Republican but will never be a Democrat. I find each party equally heinous, but for very different reasons.

I vote the candidate, and his/her views on subjects that most effect me: period.

I would love to see paul win the nomination, as unlikely as it would be, i think his stance on the fed, foreign policy and the so called "war" on drugs would make for a much more interesting election than any of the other nut jobs..
but newt is the scariest.

I'm actually kind of sad that I can't comment on this thread since I am not a Democrat...drats.

On the weekend I saw a trailer for a set of commercials Santorum is about to release. I can't link to it here because there are images of minors in it, but you can easily find it on Youtube.

It's called "Obamaville" and is a dystopian view of what life would be like in the US after another 4 years of Obama. Bleak empty streets, unwashed white people sitting aimlessly on the stoop without a hope. "Out of Business" signs creaking in the breeze. Black crows flying around. There's even a clone army of Agent Smiths in black suits marching across the screen. Images of Barack Obama and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are shown interspersed together on a TV screen, with the image flickering back and forth between them. It appears to be an attempt to subliminally tie Obama to America's biggest bogey man.

It really looks like a trailer for a horror film. It's the most blatantly negative campaign ad I've ever seen. Right up there with LBJ's A-Bomb ad.

This may be red meat for the ardent Obama haters, but I predict an epic fail for Rick S. What an odious individual he is. His sneering, condescending mannerisms make my skin crawl.

I thought the enemy's name was Goldstein. Oh, wait: that was in a novel by George Orwell.

I'm sorry--very sorry, indeed--but I laughed for a full 2 minutes when I read the above. Unwashed people of any color isn't funny in of itself, but I think it's the phrasing that got me...wow.

I haven't been privy to the commercial in question, but I am sure I will have the same look on my face while watching it that I had during the "phone call" commercial from the 2008 primaries...

You weren't the only one
It made me lol.

And, honestly, I haven't been following this election too ardently. It really seems like a joke. To me, despite which republican gains nomination, the reelection of the incumbent seems highly likely... [if not certain]
but who knows. :p I'm not too skilled at clairvoyance.

A simple question...At this stage in the Republican Primary, who do you want to see win the least? (i.e. who of the candidates do you dislike the most?)

Who cares, all of them are nothing more than a fukin clown show and have made an absolute mockery of primary campaigning along with help from the Activist Imbeciles of SCOTUS who declared corporations are people and have more say than American Citizens.

ROMNEY is a white OBAMA who LIES about being a White OBAMA .
He never knows from one minute to the next what he thinks about a position on something until his advisor's tell him what to say.
This is why too many times he has spoken from the heart, only to be corrected by his advisor's as to what the low-mentality of the Base GOP would want to hear him say.

SANTORUM is a brain-dead born-again fundamentalist who has the Bible shoved so far up his asshole it dictates everything he does in service to THE PEOPLE !

GINGRICH is a pandering , race-baiting asshole who sadly disgraces my wonderful state.

PAUL is a writer and Publisher of heinous and cruel RACIST TRASH and he defends his actions by saying IT WAS MY PAPER BUT I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT IS PUBLISHED.
He wrote some of the articles himself and even so, when you publish something you endorse the publication of said material.
Especially when it's a small paper you know quite well the vitriolic garbage you are sending out.

The only impediment to President OBAMA being re-elected are all the Racist voter-ID bills in various states.
But I think the minorities are engaged enough, not to mention enraged by the murder of a young blk kid by a thug who is being protected by the system b/c his father was a judge.
