I'd have a terrible time narrowing down 8 songs! I'll have to think on that more... The problem is that I love SO MANY songs!

Book - While I should have something intellectual and all, hey, I'll have the works of Shakespeare! (I probably wouldn't take the Bible though, but Shakespeare, ok, I can do that...), I will want a good laugh, so I'll take "Anguished English" by Richard Lederer. :biggrin1: If I can substitute something for the Bible, I'd substitute maybe a thick, up to date book on astronomy (you know, up to date = written after Pluto was not considered a planet anymore! :biggrin1:)

Luxury item - They don't have one yet, but I want a robot that will do all the domestic chores and hunting and all that for me. The luxury hotel would be a good idea too, but I want room service and a maid, and those are not inanimate objects. :biggrin1:

Still can't narrow down my songs to just 8, but here are some I'd consider for my list (my tastes are a little odd and all over the place...)

YouTube - The Connells Fun & Games

YouTube - The Connells - Seven

YouTube - Inspiral Carpets - She Comes In The Fall

YouTube - New Slang

YouTube - The Hidden Cameras - Death of a Tune

YouTube - Qntal "Von Den Elben"

YouTube - Loreena McKennitt- All Souls Night

YouTube - Putumayo Presents: Africa - Habib Koite "Wassiye" (Live) (gotta have at least one Habib Koite song with me!)

YouTube - ZING ZONG- KANDA BONGO MAN (SOUKOUS) (This one, or pretty much any Congolese soukous song - one of my favorite things in life!)

YouTube - Stevie Wonder ~ Superstition (my favorite Stevie Wonder song - love the bass line in this!)

YouTube - Baka Beyond at Edmonton Folk Festival - Bunaka (This band along with Congolese soukous is an instant cheer-me-up when I'm feeling down - I've referred to Baka Beyond as "musical Prozac" :biggrin1:)

And other times I just want a song that gives me a chuckle. Here are a couple of those:

YouTube - They Might Be Giants "Why Does the Sun Shine?"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JdWlSF195Y

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHacDYj8KZM

There are just too many more! (And I have more than 8 already!)

This is so hard. Only 8 songs?! The luxury item I would really want is my iPod, but that then defeats the purpose. Damn.

Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You
Jimi Hendrix - Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)
The Cure - Lullaby
Frightened Rabbit - Poke
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into the Dark
Bon Iver - Skinny Love
Sigur Rós - Untitled #8
Johnny Cash - I Hung My Head

Book: The Lord of the Rings

Luxury: My guitar

Actually, I just thought of something! Instead of the astronomy book, maybe my book should be the SAS Survival Manual! (In case that robot that does everything for me is not available or breaks down. :biggrin1:)

But, I'll never get stranded on that island - I can't even narrow it down to 8 songs! :biggrin1: So I guess I'm safe in civilization.

Eight songs/tracks would be in no particular order:

Oran by Runrig
The Blue Danube
Mo Chailin Dìleas Donn by Karen Matheson
Danse Macabre
Bohemian Rhapsody
Pachelbell's Frolics by Eileen Ivers
Benedictus (Hayley Westenra's version cos I love the purity of her voice)
O Teannaibh Dlùth Is Togaibh Fonn by Cathy Ann MacPhee

The book, well, that's a hard one. I suppose being practical, it would have to be one of the survival manuals. Failing that, could I have the Encyclopedia Britannica?

The luxury item would have to be a Leatherman multi-tool, cos with that I'd be able to make most of the other things I'd need.

Could I swap Shakespeare for Donnchadh Bàn?

Only EIGHT songs? That alone would do me in...
Off the top of my head right now I'd chose:

THE BEATLES - Nowhere Man
B-52's - Roam
CHICAGO - Beginnings
ISAAC HAYES - Theme From 'Shaft'
PRETENDERS - Message Of Love
CARLY SIMON - You're So Vain
THREE DOG NIGHT - Celebrate
YES - Yours Is No Disgrace

Like a few others, I'll pass on Shakespeare & The Bible. My book would be a Rhyme Dictionary (indispensable for us songwriters).

Luxury item: a guitar (to go along with the Rhyme Dictionary, and because 8 songs just wouldn't sustain me).
