any plans on making this site cool for mobile phones/ iphones/ blackberrys?
that would pwn!
Nothing to stop you now.
I sometimes use my PDA or phone. LPSG isn't optimsed for small screens but it's a simple enough site to work anyway.
What on earth does pwn mean...?
I know of a pretty common member on here that logs in from his phone ALL the time. I think that's the ONLY place he logs in from, actually... it doesn't work on my phone, though.
Google is your friend!
What does 'pwn' mean?
I've logged on from my Pocket PC phone a few times. Things are small, but it works fine. Considering my phone does everything and IPhone does, has DSL speed downloads and was quite a bit cheaper, I'm not in any hurry to get one just for as lightly larger screen. Their version of the web browser would be nice, though.
Though I'm not sure how a mobile LPSG site would 'pwn' anything based on those definitions.
'Pwn' is used very loosely.
I think DJG means the mobile phones/ iphones/ blackberrys would achieve some kind of victory by successfully downloading the site ... so they would 'pwn' the site, or something.
That guy, and he's a great guy, is, erm, creative.
Well, own or "pwn" can also just mean that something is 'cool' or great. I think that's how DJG meant it. Read his last line as saying 'That would be great!' instead.
I know, the intent was plain enough from the context. I suppose with many 'social' acronyms, the meaning is somewhat...fluid.
Maybe it's just that simple.
By the way, agnslz, how do you pronounce 'pwn'?
This time, Wikipedia is your friend.
Pwn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wikipedia is always my friend, dong. I've actually looked at that article.
But I was curious about how our young friend pronounces it.
Given the apparent flexibility in meaning.....I have no idea. Something 'creative' I expect.
The true definition of "pwn" is "perfectly own".
Mr. Rubi I am sorry not to have answered you earlier! There was a thunderstorm here and I hightailed it off the computer after I made my last post to this thread, since lightning was striking a little too close for comfort. I pronounce pwn as "pwone" and pwned as "pwoned". I hope my pronunciation comes across in those spellings!
