Hi guys,

Whilst most of us on the board are here to have a little show off and watch each other show off there is a minority of posters who make it their mission to belittle, criticise, bully, offend and demean the regular poster.

I won't name names but I'm stating openly that these posters are driving many good members from the board and making the community fraught with tension.

In the interests of good relations if you can't post positive, don't post at all.

It's been this way for a long time. Some have left some settled down, some are just flowing in. It's kind of the way of the net. :s Well, of the world, though people are more brazen online.

There is a great feature on lpsg. Its called the ignore feature. I use it and I love it. I have pleanty on it, lol.

Some people get off on bothering others. Ignore them and leave it at that.

Jason's right. None of us can fully get away from the nastiness that seems to pop up on online forums of all types. Take steps (like the ignore feature) to avoid people like that, and we can all remember, too, that their nastiness is a reflection on them, not us.

That's a very nice sentiment.
Its also either naive, or manipulative.

IF you post pictures of your dick in a public forum, you are soliciting critique.
If you post an opinion in a public forum, the same situation ensues...

Your right to say something out loud... is matched by other's rights to respond out loud.

This is no different that making a movie or publishing a book or song...
You are opening yourself to public feedback with full knowledge that the public contains a certain percentage of assholes.

To demand people be other than they are reflects either an immature inability to deal with the fact that some people are mean....
Or it reflects an unreasonable assumption that you should be able to limit other's rights to suit your sensibilities.

How about this....

We all learn to be adults and deal with the fact that others are free to say whatever they please... If they overstep the bounds of the TOS, they are free to be banned.

And we all start taking to heart something we were all supposed to learn in the schoolyard... that sticks and stones may break our bones, but that names shall never hurt us...

Its just words...mere opinions.... don't take them so seriously.

Especially mine.

PS

As an artist, I can tell you that all "positive" feedback, with no negative, is less than useless.
You can not grow as an artist without hearing real critique that is usually pretty harsh.

Similarly, you can not grow in your worldview if your ideas are never challenged.

If you want nothing but fawning encouragement, show it to your mom and let her hang it on the fridge.

When someone is constantly ignored in real life they come online and do whatever it takes to be noticed... any attention is better than no attention at all, it's sad really!

I just want to start this post by saying I am writing this as a member of LPSG and not a Moderator. If only in real life there was an ignore button; if there is someone here you don't want to be in contact with use the ignore button. If someone is harassing you or other members in posts or in PM's and it is in fact offensive and in violation of the terms of service at LPSG; report it. If someone is offering an opinion and you don't like it, develop a thicker skin and move on to a thread or subject that makes you happy.
I believe LPSG is an outstanding forum for thoughts and ideas because we all come from different parts of the world with varying viewpoints and experience. If we take the time to look for it we may find that we have a great deal more in common than we have differences.
In my experience here and in life I have learned so much from people who view the world and life with a different perspective than my own.

I can't help but feel a little guilty here. Please accept my apologies. Its not my intention to offend. As my name say's; I'm curious I take pride in trying to understand other peoples view. The proverbial walk in someone else shoes so to speak. Again my apologies.

pffft, get use to it or use the ignore feature.

I thought this was going to be about nasty posters, not jerks.

I use the ignore button in my everyday life. It works just fine.

Being an asshole myself, I don't have much of a problem with looking past people who aren't on my level.

The internets just make it a little harder to ignore since it's words visualized on a screen. You can't tune out stuff you see or read...unless of course you use the "ignore" feature.
