1. Rob asked about a specific idea. Why do people not discuss that but instead discuss other crap entirely?
You're so cute when you're a curmudgeon.

I like the idea of a shirt. Could I still buy one as an LP Supporter, and not an LP owner? Well, I'd at least buy one for a friend of mine that I know SHOULD be a member. Maybe it'd convince him to join.

RE: Cafepress
I've checked into this option. This is a good source of very low quantity (as low as 1) custom apparel, etc. However, my understanding is that the quality is not that high. Has anyone actually ordered a t-shirt from cafepress and if so what was your experience? The other issue with cafepress is cost. If I buy several thousand identical shirts I can buy them at a substantial discount, and therefore charge less to make the same margin. Cafepress, I believe, charges a premium because of the low quantity. However, the advantages with cafepress are that we could have virtually unlimited designs, products, etc. to choose from.

RE: Design
My initial thought was to keep it simple, to have one or two shirts only. The Member vs. Supporter was not meant to be serious, but instead would be a toungue in cheek joke depending on who purchased the shirt. Also, I purposely would leave off the .org so that for all anyone knows the shirt wearer could be a member of this LPSG. I have a shipping department that could handle logistics, and again cut costs, but it would be very difficult to have more than a couple of options.

Anyway, please provide feeback if you have every ordered from cafepress, and thoughts on cost vs customization of design.

I ordered a coffee mug from cafepress and it was fine, but I don't know about t-shirts. I like the site because of the options, and we already got suggestions from several members who would buy "if", so it's worth considering. Perhaps a smaller per-order profit would be made up by more orders/options. People could get mugs, undies and all the other goodies too. We could also have a couple different slogans, which would be fun.

I like the idea, and anything to support the site is good, clearly you can't keep digging into your pocket to keep it running.

I guess Im not a gold member because I dont spend a whole lot of time in the gallery. Ill check some pics to compare, or check out some of the very few real women that are on here, but thats about it.

If there was a t-shirt involved, that would probably sway me enough to sign up, or even just to buy the shirt.

The deal breaker would be the design of the shirt. For me, it would have to be sort of low key. My ideal shirt would have LPSG in two inch or so letters on one side of the chest, and OFFICIAL MEMBER in bigger letters across the back. Maybe a blue, black, or white colored shirt.

Those are just my opinions.

Thanks Rob for a great site!!!!!!

Because the idea arose out of financial need. So suggestions on how to increase finances -- nah, it's not important because you probably wouldn't understand. Thanks anyway for pointing out my humanity.

Extremely low quality. One wear only. After the first wash you can see through the fabric. A university group used them for a while but after many complaints they went back to a local maker.

You have no idea how much bandwidth and CPU this site requires, do you?

That's why the other sites charge users for accessing those parts of their site which use up the most owner time, server space, and bandwidth. It's why I suggested Rob charge for accessing them on here. A couple of business owners have posted on their sites that they charge for live chat as it took more time to manage than any other.

As someone mentioned low key have LPSG on the breast then Official Member or whatever contered on the back. If you want any graphic design let me know. I don't do it for a living but I do it for fun and would like to helpout where I can

And I thought it arose out of a sartorial need.

Obviously not. But I doubt that you could possibly point out anything that I wouldn't understand, and easily. The reverse may not be true. Thanks for a few laughs at your expense.

Oh stop, I'm going to end up liking you.

While it's always exciting when a n00b makes his first post to tell the owner how to run the site, it does quickly dissipate into a yawnfest.
