Any plans to move this site to the newly-approved .xxx TLD? I know that one of the reasons, for example, that we have our no nude avatar rule is 'better safe than sorry.' Well, are 'adult' websites in general going to face pressure to go to .xxx? I mean, I'm sure such restrictions won't hold up to free speech protections in most countries, but is that a fight LPSG wants to engage in?

Furthermore, if we were on .xxx, there would be no legal reason not to allow nude avatars ;)

Eesh! That sounds like it's going to be too easy for people to block those sites. I can see places saying, "Sorry, we don't allow access to .xxx sites." On the other hand, sounds like it could be exciting.

So they actually did approve .xxx as an internet extension?
    Hmmmm... when did this happen?

I'm not sure how that will go across in the U.S.

Free speech issues will certainly be raised and this could be in court for years.

According to PC World ICANN just approved it.
It's a double-edged sword. It removes the onus from the site to keep minors away, but it could create an 'adult ghetto.'

No i use avatars to see who is saying what sometimes, i don't like the idea of having dick flash over my screen if i don't want to see it. Sometimes people have kids around who can't read but surely could recognize a penis avatar if they saw it. This site is not an XXX site. It's a posting forum, not a porn forum. The pictures and videos are just a side effect of what goes on here.

    NO no and NO.

Porn sites get their own domain: '.xxx' - CNN.com

Tis official .xxx will be "live" in 2011.

I don't think the place is a .xxx whenever I think of the neon signs that you sometimes see for adult film arcades or titty bars or similar stuff. I hope the site isn't moved to .xxx

You might lose a lot of the membership in the unlikely event it moves to .xxx - I think some would perhaps not want to be associated with it then.

Optional in the US, Canada, the UK, certainly. What if other countries decide to make it a crime to host penis talk on .org? Turkey? China? Venezuela? Alabama? Who knows? Will a site like this face legal challenges from a million and one places?

Personally I find the approval of .xxx to be a travesty, and it's going to ruin the net as we know it, but this is the world we now have to live in.

What it does is make it very easy for parents, schools, and libraries to block adult content nice enough to use .xxx.

It wouldn't be hard to gives users an option in their Control Panel for whether to display user-uploaded, un-verified avatars.

If the site is hosted in the USA and doesn't break US laws, guess what Turkey, China etc could do.. absolutely nothing!
