Great voice Pieter.

This sounds like fun.

I'd like to throw in my humble effort ("stand by me" by Ben E. King),
I sang this for my girlfriend because she loved that song so much.
I hope you'll like it and I'd like to know what you guys think about it.

zSHARE - Stand by me.MP3

How does this sound, you've all got three days to get your voice recording (14th Jan, midnight British time) together and make sure you've clearly linked to it in this thread.

Then everyone has an allocation of ten points that they can give to whoever they want, (voting to close 16th Jan, midnight British time) all ten to one person if that's how you want it, three to one person, five to another, however you want to distribute your points, then whoever's got the most points is the winner. It'd be brilliant if people awarded it to who they thought gave the best performance rather than to their best mate ;-)

Anyone who wants to give it a go in the chat room fling the time up you're going to be singing and I'm sure there'll be an audience of some sort to heckle/throw roses ;-)

This may be open to change if anyone comes up with a better idea of how to organise it.

Bugger I just got in too late to edit the last post I made. Thanks to DaveyR for a suggestion that never occurred to me, that the date I set was a Thursday and if I set it for a Friday more people might join in, if I set it for Saturday we might get even more, so the new date is -

Midnight 16th January to get your songs in , no songs will be accepted after that point.

Feel free to vote anytime after all the songs are in and you've had a good listen, and voting will be closed midnight 18th January.

Again, be fair, don't just vote for your mates, vote for who you think sang most nicely.

The search for a mic begins! I'm anxious to include my own botched version of a song.

I hope some people do duets.

We did Requiem (I presume Mozart's?) at school when I was about 12. I won the choir cup (*boasts*) even tho I was a bit shit, but I think it was more because I turned up faithfully for all the rehearsals lol. I think we did Messiah too, cos I remember singing something about God omnipotent reigneth. :p

It all went badly wrong for my career when my voice broke, lol.

Do it anyways, jollster!

It was like 1:30 am and I was congested. I just threw that up as an example for how people can record and link it. I'll record something a bit better soon:) And you better submit one, too!

I have been singing about as long as I have been talking. As a child I would sing my books to my stuffed animals around me (only child lol) I am classically trained in voice and piano and attended camp for musicians and singers my 3 summers of High school where I had the great fortune of singing the best Choral music ever written (Beethoven's 9th, Verdi and Mozart Requiems and Carmina Burana to name a few) as well as 6 operas/musicals each summer. I mostly sing music of that nature but I also have sung modern songs in Karaoke with friends of mine. I sung with the local Choral society for several yrs until I got tired of doing the same stuff over and over, which is pretty par for me, If I get bored with somethng or find it to not be a challenge I am gone . My real talent (in my opinion) and the true expression of my soul is playing the piano .

Nice, sweet voice Nubs but I wonder why you did the Star Spangled Banner sotto voce ? This is a BIG VOICE song. It sounds like you had to sing quietly cause of people around you if that's the case I understand but if not then you should work on diapragmatic singing to better support your breathing and notes.

.

First of all, you did one of my all time fave love ballads and one I sang for someone in a full chat room on Paltalk along with I Honestly Love You a few yrs back lol . I dig a love song that has a double entendre . Do you do KARAOKE ? (*mental note* look for Not in Love next time I do KARAOKE) If not you should that would help you a lot. You have a good voice but the most important thing in singing is BREATHING . A few times when you sustain a note you don't have the right breath support and it goes slightly out of tune. A few times I noticed there was almost a monotone quality about the vocals, this is probably from nerves, again KARAOKE or even vocal lessons (If in the area Yes I am available) would help this. I don't mean to suggest you sounded montonous but that at times your next notes sounded like the previous one.

"This video contains content from bbc, who has decided to block it in your country. Now what was that about a tea party in Boston?"

Jk: it really said "This video contains content from bbc, who has decided to block it in your country."

I expected more from the BBC: its the only news I subscribe to and trust.
