Hello guys,

I am a 22 year old who recently discovered a bump on my right testes. It is the size of a grain of rice (if not smaller) and is very hard to locate (I can only locate it after a hot shower and that is only using the tip of my thump. It is on the side and actually attached on the surface of the testes. Is is not next to any "piping" so to speak.

I have read that any lump or bump here is certainly testicular cancer and that the only treatment is the removal of the testis. I cannot survive if this occurs...

I have not been going to university, withdrawn from everything and am worried to death. My cousin just past away last month from a brain tumour and I feel as though I am following in this footsteps.

Has anyone experienced testicular cancer? Are there any other symptoms which can negate or prove my suspicions?

I am sick of hospitals and doctors and do not want to see one. My whole family has been in and out of hospital for the last two years and my mother can not take another incidence of cancer in the family.

I think I am doomed, I am very confused, depressed.

Any advice will be appreciated...

your not doomed, but i work in a docs office,, and RUN do not walk to a doctor, any doctor,, ALWAYS get lumps checked out on your testes,, it will give you piece of mind if nothing else!!!

Any lump you find is at least as likely to be something else as cancer, but all lumps should be checked out, if they turn out to be something sinister the sooner they're caught the better.

Hello Guys,

Thank you for the advice. I today went and got an ultrasound done of both testicles...At the clinic I could not accurately locate the lump...however she took a general look at everything in the scrotum. The sonographer did not mention anything because apparently she is not allowed to do so, but the specialist will look at the photos and give me the results report on Monday.

What was weird though was that she also wanted to ultrasound my left kidney which she did...

Does anyone have any clue as to why she did this?

If she detected a calcium deposit (it is called litiasis) she might have checked to see if you also had them in your kidneys, which is where they typically originate (i.e. the infamous kidney stones). A tumor would be round shaped and bigger than a grain of rice. And it would stay put where you first found it. Whereas the stone would tend to float around within the scrotal sac. That's probably why you failed to find it at the clinic.

Hello Guys,

I got my test results today...

Well, here it goes...they found a 13mm cyst on the head of the epididymis of my LEFT testicle and also a small Varicocele, which is weird because I didn't feel anything on the left side.

Also, on the Right side which I thought I felt the bumb, she found a bit of fluid build up. Thats all.

But, otherwise everything is good.

All I have to do apparently is get another follow up ultrasound in 3-6 months.

Surfer,

That's awesome. I'm so proud of you for having the balls (sorry, bad pun) to go and get it all checked out.

See? You're going to be OK.

Way to go. You definitely had to wrestle through this one, and you did. Good job buddy.

What to do?

Great! Imagine what you would still be going through if you hadn't gone. I'm really glad to hear that your results were positive! :)

Surfer....you absolutely have to go see a Doctor. It may be nothing to worry about...wouldnt that be a load of your mind. Even if it turns out to be the dreaded "C" word, there are lots of things that can be done. Cancer does not mean the end of life anymore...but you have to have it looked at NOW before it gets worse....its not going to just go away. Do the right thing for your family and yourself and go see a Doctor. Just think if it turns out to be nothing, you get to have somebody play with your nuts for an afternoon!!! Keep that chin up and hang in there!!

I found a small bump on my right testicle the other day, while taking a shower on the weekend. I've read so much about the possible causes over the past 4 days. i've made an appointment at my doctor for next thursday. Scares the hell out of you! took me a few days to call the doc tho, I kind of just wanted it to go away.

Is an ultrasound the common way to test for bumps? Would it be smart to make an appointment at the ultrasound clinic tomorrow? I know that it's usually a 3 to 4 week waiting period. Also should I get a referral to a urologist as well, for a second opinion?

An ultrasound is pretty definitive diagnostically, so if you can book one that will give you a clear answer. My guess, though, is that you will need a doctors order to book the appointment. My suggestion is that you try to get your regular doctor to order one and then, if there is any finding at all, have it reviewed by a urologist. A good resource is tc-cancer.com.
However, it's most probably benign. Still you don't want to take chances. Good luck!

This thread got started a couple years ago, but it seems to be picking up again, with more recent concerns from some guys. So for their benefit I will pass on some information from my own experience.

About 3 months ago while checking my testicles I came upon a small lump on my left testicle, about the size of a peanut. I didn't hesitate at all to make an appointment with my urologist. (I can't imagine why any guy would be too shy to have such a thing examined asap. Don't fool around asking for general advice about it.) My urologist quickly diagnosed it as a small cyst, telling me they are common enough and benign. But he could tell it was collecting fluid and advised withdrawing the fluid. When I asked how, he said "with a syringe." What, puncture my testicle? He said the needle was small and would not be painful, so he proceeded. Well I'll be honest it was no fun feeling the insertion of the needle, and his finger pressure to evacuate the fluid from the cyst. (It took about a half hour for the pain to go away.) But it diminished the lump which went away in a few days.

When you have any concerns about some unusual change regarding your jewels, take control and do what you should to take care of things. You don't want to mismanage down there.

I had this same thing....

Little hard bump like the grain of sand.

Had the Dr look at it and ended up being nothing....went away on it's own.

But..........good advice to everyone.... feel them up regularly so you know what they are supposed to feel like so you notice something weird right away.

Things things...forget now what they are called (but it scared the hell out of me at the time) are common, typical and not serious.

Now...back to my fleshlight and the porn.

For those who encounter lumps, the wisest move is to always have these checked out by medical professionals. The greatest percentage of the lumps and bumps turn out to have causes other than cancer. In fact, cancer is not the most common cause. The reason that you ALWAYS have this checked out is on the small chance that it is, the survival rate of testicular cancer is outstanding if it is caught before metastases (spreading) has taken place. There are many famous people or celebrities both in sports and on the screen who have had this condition. You just need to remember that checking early is always the key in anything involving cancer.

...and also a small Varicocele

I have a hydrocele...fluid instead of blood. I pointed it out during a medical check-up 12 years ago and thats what it turned out to be. I quit having medical check-ups after that. Do as I say, not as I do: have the ultrasound in 3-6 months.

So I went to the doctor and had the bump checked out. He sent me for an ultrasound and they said it was just a spermatocele. They said it's not a big deal, and that it won't cause any problems. The doctor I went to seemed to rush things along a little bit, I told him what my concern was, and he did a 5 second exam, and then told me to go get an ultrasound.

Do you guys think I should maybe go to a urologist and get a more complete exam, im probably just stressing out, but i would appriciate more than just 5 seconds when it comes to something so potentially stressful.

Man, it isn't the stress that's a concern here...one of your testicles is potentially at stake. Go visit a urologist who will properly examine the situation, and will then explain to you just what the prognosis is. Taking care of that part of your body is Job One!
