Biden warns family not to fly, use subway over swine flu fears

Nice work, Joe.

The airlines are on the brink of collapse, and you tell Americans not to fly.

Great work. 30,000 people per year die from the everyday flu. Now we have less than 100 cases of swine in the US and you suggest that 300 million people put the kibosh on air travel?

Why don't you suggest that people never leave their houses and stop spending altogether. Don't eat out. Don't go to the gas station. Don't go to Walmart because they import some products from Mexico.

C'mon dude, think before you speak. Obama has enough on his plate to have to provide air cover for you every time you open your piehole.

Incredible biasm from CNN as the headline read something to the effect of just "Biden gives travel advice on swine flu".

Amazing how much they protect his buffonery.

The pandemic is growing in severity and will eventually close the airlines in a matter of weeks. It is only common sense to urge people not to fly if they have other options. :)

Definition of pandemic: "occurring over a wide geographic area and affecting an exceptionally high proportion of the population"

Pandemic?

Really?

235, let's say 2,000 across the world, and it's a pandemic?

pandemic[1] - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

the Hong Kong Flu killed ~1million ppl in the late 60s

a cholera outbreak in india last century killed 800,000

the Spanish Flu had 17 million in India, 3/4 mil in the US and 1/4 mil in the UK. infected 2.5 to 5% of the human population, with 20% or more of the world population suffering from the disease to some extent

5,000,000,000,000 / ~500 = pandemic

unless you are safely predicting, and have inside knowledge that this will in fact reach pandemic levels.

He also said people should avoid "confined spaces" like subways. I like Joe but it was an idiotic and irresponsible thing to say.

The United States must do everything in it's collective power to keep Obama healthy and safe for the next 4 years. It is each and every one of our responsibility to do so.

If we are to be avoiding 'confined spaces' we should also avoid buses, trains, elevators, offices, stores, malls, gyms, schools, hospitals, cafeterias, churches and barber shops/salons.

Biden is just beside himself because Obama is bitch-slapping the credit card industry into submission; and those are Biden's boys from back home in Delaware.

They practically water-boarded Biden to get Pres to back off from his proposed credit card regs, and Obama flinged him aside like an annoying gnat.

I was happy it went down that way. Screw the credit card co's and screw Biden.

Good job on that one, Obama.

Good god, that's the most pro-Obama thing I've ever heard you say.

And that's the most I heard you say.

I believe the word is "flung".

I am not a fan. Biden's an ass, for sure. He's been an infamous gaffe machine for as long as I can remember (and I'm 49). But he's strictly minor league compared to GWBush:

All quotes (and so very many more) taken from Bushisms: The Wit & Wisdom of George W Bush:

“Some communities, you say, ‘Hey, American dream,’ and they go, ‘What does that mean?’”

“I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family.”

“Do you have blacks, too?” speaking to Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Source: Reported 2002-04-28 by columnist Fernando Pedreira (and friend of the Brazilian president) of the Estado Sao Paulo in an article titled An Overwhelming Ignorance. Also cited by The Washington Post and der Spiegel, 2001-11-08

“Will the highways on the Internet become more few?”

“The California crunch really is the result of not enough power to power the power of generating plants.”

“In 1994, there were 67 schools in Texas that were rated exemplorary according to our own tests.”

“Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?”

“I don’t think we need to be subliminable about the differences between our views on prescription drugs.”

“They misunderestimated me.”

“It’s very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left there to go to America, because their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom helped change America.” speaking of Africans who were kidnapped and sold into slavery, then shipped to the US.

"First, let me make it very clear: poor people aren't necessarily killers."

This is totally a totally random compilation. The website contains hundreds.

Just sayin.

"Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs." --Joe Biden

"A man I'm proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack America!" --Joe Biden, at his first campaign rally with Barack Obama (Watch video clip)

"If your kitchen table is like mine, you sit there at night before you put the kids to bed and you talk about what you need. You talk about how much you are worried about being able to pay the bills. Ladies and gentlemen, that is not a worry John McCain has to worry about. It's a pretty hard experience. He'll have to figure out which of the seven kitchen tables to sit at." --Joe Biden

"There's only three things he mentions in a sentence -- a noun, a verb, and 9/11." --Joe Biden, on Rudy Giuliani (Watch video clip)

"I should start with an apology to Rudy Giuliani. I said every sentence Rudy utters has a noun, a verb, and 9/11 in it. I was wrong. He called me to tell me after Pat Robertson's endorsement, there's an Amen in every sentence he says too." --Joe Biden

"Yes." --Joe Biden, giving a one-word answer during a Democratic debate to NBC Anchor Brian Wiliams, who cited criticism of Biden's "uncontrolled verbosity" and tendency to be a “gaffe machine” in asking whether he would "have the discipline you would need on the world stage" (Watch video clip)

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." --Joe Biden on Barack Obama

"I got tested for AIDS. I know Barack got tested for AIDS. There's no shame in being tested for AIDS. It's an important thing."

"You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.... I'm not joking." --Joe Biden

I see nothing wrong with what he said. Everyone knows airplanes are full of stale recycled air. :duh: Business travelers have no choice but anyone planning a vacation should reconsider.

Exactly! A friend of mine is in NYC she has a reduced immune system and rather than flying home to Tampa, FL will be driving.
