I don't get why there's a "no opinion" option for the poll. if someone has no opinion, then why the fuck would they wanna respond to a poll in the first place?
The right to vote is sacred. American soldiers are giving their lives out in the Middle East to make sure that your right to vote is secure. Are you telling me that you think those soldiers are dying for nothing? You think voting's not important? Whether you are informed on the issues or not is of very little import - not voting is anti-American. If you don't vote, the terrorists win.

I'm a lurker NO more! Haha. (My first post).

I've been lurking (as a gold member) on this board for years....maybe since 2002? I enjoy reading the posts.....and viewing the pics/vids.

Accounts that are not active within XX days should be voided, regardless of the posting status.

Anyway, just my ¢.02............maybe I'll come out of my shell and post more?

I'm surprised so many of you seem to care so much about this. Why does it even matter how or wether someone chooses to use their account once it's been created. God forbid you have to be more creative and original in order to get a user name. And freeing up usernames is what it's all about, isn't it?

No, not really. Lurkers, even though they don't fill out their profiles and don't post, often DO send rude private messages that no one likes getting. I think there should be a minimum post requirement to send a private message.

because it's annoying to constantly receive private messages (or even worse, instant messages) from nonentities who "found u on teh lspg forums loloololo a/s/l wanna trade pix" and so on. the vast majority of those clowns never actually use the forums and have nothing worthwhile to say, but just trawl the member directory looking for people to inflict themselves upon via AIM or whatever. and if this happens often enough to irritate me, then i can only imagine how bad it gets for the forum users who are actually attractive and/or female :p

So, being as my first post (and having been a member for quite awhile), I just wanted to echo fratpack, and what a few others have said- it can be nice to search through posts to get an idea of perhaps what someone in particular thinks, but there are of course those who aren't as interested in the posting, and who prefer either to read, or float through the chatroom, etc. I don't see much of a problem with it (unless of course the lurker maybe starts trying to contact you through PM), but as long as those people are silent, who really cares...? I myself am not especially big into any type of message board, i enjoy reading and seeing what other people have written, who knows, maybe that'll change.

While pretty much being considered a lurker myself, I've been on the LPSG since I was 13 or 14, back in the days of Jimbo running that particular incarnation. I guess I just haven't had a whole lot to say, or the topics aren't catching my attention as they did back then, and they probably had a different meaning back then.

But yeah, if someone were to want the "miamihorse9" account and they planned on actually posting, sure - but I don't think any discussion board software necessarily permits that. The couple of posts before a PM idea isn't bad either, though.

The PMs from lurkers are what irk me as well. Here's the most bizarre PM I've ever received, and the number of posts that the member in question had made was 0, of course.

Well, I guess he's still "waitin". He did fill out his profile. Age: 14. Uh, no thanks. His account was recently deleted.

He sounds pretty young for a cop.

Hey, I in no way want to discourage the people who like to read the boards rather than post, that's why most of us DO post! Almost any board like this is made up of predominantly lurkers, and that's fine, as long as they remain lurking, or come out on the board when they decide they want to. My gripe is when they're been reading every little word you say for ages so now they think you're friends. I'm sorry, but the last thing I want to hear is "Ask me anythink ur curious about!!!!1111!!1" because I'm NOT curious about someone I don't know at all. Give me a chance to see what you're like before you assume anything.

The bad typing and spelling is an awful first impression too. Please stop jakcing off while typing. Grr. "I wan stik my cok in ur boobiez" is NOT hawt.

Okay, I am going to chip in. As a 'lurker' (i.e. a member that does not post) for the past year or so, I understand what it means for me at least but I cannot speak for other lurkers.

One thing that people seem to forget about this site at times is that it is meant to be a support site first and foremost. I used to post on this site a long time ago. So long ago that my posts are no longer accessible (to my knowledge) and my posts counter was reset (think I had to sign up again... long time members will remember this). Back then I had problems with shyness (somehow linked with my size) and had not had sex at 24! The board and its members really helped me get over this and things have changed now  I also made some good friends through the site who I still keep in contact with. The fact that I didn't post until now doesn't mean I have suddenly become an annoying person that just pesters people with PMs etc. or, heaven forbid, become underage! It just means that I have other things going on just now and that my .02 or what ever isn't called for at the moment. But if i have had similar issues to a poster or feel like I want to discuss something then I will contribute!

I think you have to be careful about just deleting all lurkers as there are obviously all sorts of people that make up the lurker population and not just those that are on a 'fishing trip', randomly PMing people and underage. Some of us actually care a great deal about the site and are probably more worthwhile members of the site than many 'contributing' members.

Will (Officially of non-lurker status again :biggrin1: )
