I dunno if this will work here - but how about a lyrics game?

Post song lyrics (like em, hate em, funny, profound, whatever) people have to guess the song - correct guesser posts the next set of lyrics.

2 suggestions (I don't believe in rules), try not to google, try not to make the lyrics too obscure. I'll start with some lyrics I have always loved:

Yes to dance beneath the diamond sky
    with one hand waving free
    Silhouetted by the sea
    Circled by the circus sands
    With all memory and fate
    driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow

    Here's a tough one...

in Houston, in Oslo, the contracts, the con slow
And no sex and no sleep
    It’s hard toe.
    It’s hard speak.
And no shoes and no shawl.
    In high tents
    The tribe stalls.

    Tapes n' Tapes "In Houston"

Now an easy one (but a great one)

Well, we live in a trailer
    at the edge of town
    You never see us
    'cause we don't come around.
    We got twenty five rifles
    just to keep
    the population down.

So do you know Tapes'n Tapes? I saw them play Friday night!!

Well, hello, neighbor. I been meaning to talk to you.
I been putting it off. It's something I gotta do.
I been living with a secret. Been keeping me awake.
There's just something I gotta say:

I shot your dog. He was on my property.
I thought he was a coyote, on the run.
I been missing some chickens, so I pulled the trigger.
I feel so bad 'bout what I done.

#muttering to self# I make 2 basic suggestions - try not to google / don't be too obscure - what do I get? A complaint about how gogling fucks up the game (so don't google!) and obscure lyrics from Ed Norton there - I dunno - tut tut, what ho and all that

Anyhoo, that was (apparently) I Shot Your Dog by the widely lauded Fred Eaglesmith
    Let's try:

But shoot it in the right direction
Make making it your intention-ooh yeah
    Live those dreams
    Scheme those schemes
    Got to hit me
    Hit me
Hit me with those laser beams

No google needed here. Relax by Frankie goes to Hollywood

A little Indian brave before he was ten,
Played war games in the woods with his Indian friends,
And he built up a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fearless warrior Indian chief.
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until
Tomorrow he would sing his first war song,
and fight his first battle but something went wrong,
Surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night.

If you can hear a piano fall
You can hear me coming down the hall
If I can just hear your pretty voice
I don't think I need to see at all

Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -White Stripes

On candystripe legs the spiderman comes
Softly through the shadow of the evening sun
Stealing past the windows of the blissfully dead
Looking for the victim shivering in bed
Searching out fear in the gathering gloom and
    Suddenly!
A movement in the corner of the room!
And there is nothing I can do
    When I realise with fright
That the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight!

    That is the Cure... Lullaby
(creeps me the hell out that one actually)

    I'll push the wood
    Then I'll blaze your fire
Then I'll satisfy your heart desire

    Said, I'll stir it, yeah,
    Every minute
All you got to do, baby,

    Is keep it in it

Stir it Up - Bob Marley and the Wailers

    If I could cheat,
I would skip to the end,
And decide if it's worth going through with,
Skip to the last, paragraph, just before we start,
To see the happy ending, or the broken heart.

Sounds like something from The Operators or The Future Heads (spelling please). Mikey made a CD of weird music for me and those things were on them. Out of curiosity I DogPiled and AltaVista-ed and even Jeevesed it (no Googling though:biggrin1:) and it seems to be a Futurehead tune. Hope that's good enough and now moving right along-

Way down the street there's a light in his place
    He opens the door
He's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
    And you talk about anything

He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
    And then he'll settle down
    It's a quiet little town
    And forget about everything
But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin'
    'Cause he's rollin'
    He's the rolling stone

(helpful hint-it goes back some 30 years ago)

    OMG NO WAY

Gerry Rafferty .... Baker Street ?

This is an OLD song :biggrin1:

I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, i just had to laugh
    I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
    They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords

A Day in the Life - Beatles (just about my favourite Beatles song - still took me about 10 minutes to remember the title though, sang it through three times while thinking - of course that didn't help )

Oh, there aint no love, no Montagues or Capulets
Just banging tunes and DJ sets and
Dirty dance floors and dreams of naughtiness!

Well, That would be another brick in the wall pt. 2 - pink floyd

    How about this...

La, hollywood, and the sunset strip
    Is something everyone should see
Neon lights and the pretty pretty girls
    All dressed so scantily
    When they play their music
    That hard rock music
They like it with a lot of flash
But its still that same old back beat rhythm
That really kicks em in the

Well there's people and more people
What do they know know know
Go to work in some high rise
And vacation down at the Gulf of Mexico
